But that’s our team so of course we’d be happy with that. Can’t see Drogheda suddenly becoming a hotbed of Irish talent anytime soon.
Will be very happy to be proven wrong however i’m guessing a finish around 15th - this could change dependent on any signings we make between now and the window closing, and hope we bring some quality in and can change this!
But anything that benefits Drogheda benefits Trivela which should benefit us too.
In theory at least.
Yes indeed they are facts… the bit that you have missed off and is supposition, is that the money that is to be invested in Drogheda has somehow been robbed off our club.
Our playing budget comes from the clubs money, like it always has.
Trivela are not going to bankroll the budget with their own/investors money.
So even if they only owned Walsall and not Drogheda it wouldn’t have any effect on our playing budget.
Christ , I’m sure our fans picture some sort of Man City feeder club set up
We won’t see anything come our way!!
Deluded
Macca should be full time captain.
They’re literally investors they called themselves accelerators. That doesn’t insinuate “no we’re not going to put in any money”.
Some people set the bar so low for owners that they literally can’t fail to pass it.
I mean, that quite literally isn’t true. What are people imagining that they have stacks of cash separated out into different piles for each club? It’s ALL their money. Every penny they put into a different club is a penny they are not putting into ours. It really is that simple.
Also Drogheda are shite, i don’t get the jizz fest.
Can’t see any benefit at all.
We won’t see anything from Drogheda…
Well, we got Draper indirectly through Drogheda.
Okay, so we got Draper and yes, he did great for us, but how have we ever benefitted from Drogheda?..
Well, we got Weir from them too and he looks a good young prospect.
Okay, so we got Draper and Weir from them, but how have we ever benfitted from Drogheda?
It’s also a huge assumption to say that it’s robbing funds from us that would be spent on transfers . Even if that were the case, then either they’d be taking an insignificant amount, as our budget is probably quite poor for the division, or to take a large chunk it supposes we had a top 3 budget for the division, or that we now have the worst budget in the division, or our transfer model was about to change radically to splurging huge amounts on transfers and wages. I didn’t switch from anything btw, if you read properly, my point is and was it’s likely to be money loaned, with Drogheda, not the Trivela group, expected to wash it’s own face in regards to repayments.
What I’m talking about is that they will create the funds if they feel they need to, i.e. should it look a good investment, either through loans, or through sanctioning some capital from the vast sums they manage (as they’re backed by an investment fund, they manage multiple millions of dollars on behalf of their clients, fact). Investing £1million into a striker who may or may not score 40, and may or may not do his ACL 3 weeks in is a very risky use of those funds, investing in property is much lower risk, with the added benefit it may facilitate the eventual growth of the club that uses said property, meaning their assets grow in value even further.
Anyway, the point you’re missing here is I’m not defending Trivela, quite the opposite infact.
Except we didn’t did we? We borrowed him, and paid Lincoln for the privilege, which they took away after 6 months. He was never our player.
And calling Weir a benefit at this stage is a big shout. I’ll wait to see if he can handle league two at all first.
Why is our budget so crap, if we can afford to bank roll another club and build them a new stadium?
We don’t know the extent to which Trivela are funding Droghedas stadium, by all accounts it looks like they are getting it through a grant
Well yes because “would” and “should” are two different words. They should be investing to improve this football club, I never at any point assumed they would. So far they haven’t seemed that arsed. It’s still capital that now isn’t available to do that though
Maybe it wouldn’t be if we had accelerator inv …. Wait a minute!!!
Yes you did. You said “this is what’s happening” I responded on that basis, then you called it a spurious argument because apparently “we both know that wasn’t the case” and claimed it would be a completely different scenario
Yeah. Welcome to football. That’s the business they’ve chosen to go into.
“The accounts” being what we’ve said is happening to justify them investing in a different football club
No way does it work like that, maybe a small grant but they will have to fund the majority.
You don’t just get a free stadium!
No no, it’s literally ALL a grant they’re just getting a completely free stadium, and if they have to pay anything the council will just loan them money. We’ve decided that.
Daft talk, but there seems to be a lot of it on here lately.
I mean why should we give a shite about Drogheda?
For someone who often tells people, reading is your friend, you missed off the bit of the quote that stated ‘indirectly’.
My post was meant as a little bit of light hearted banter with Mazza. It seems he took it in the spirit it was intended. Then along comes cantankerous elnombre…
