Expectations For The 2024/25 Season

Why would that change my point? :joy: he was still never our player and was still taken back after 6 months. Crediting that to a link with Drogheda is … generous.

I read it, reading is indeed my friend, and it’s completely irrelevant.

Doesn’t take much imagination to see Draper as an example of our relationship with Droghegda though does it?

We just don’t know. I’d be interested to know more. The link shared was with regards to an application for a grant.

Lots of stadiums in the uk took advantage of government funding post Hillsborough

Jesus , how exciting.

What’s your point here?

Apart from all the stuff I just said … sure :man_shrugging:

A, he was Lincoln’s player
B, we lost him at a critical time in the season
C, we finished mid table with him

Sorry I can’t get excited

I think this is where the bit I said about using your imagination comes in.

Rather than Lincoln sending a young player to learn his trade in Ireland Walsall could send a player to learn their trade in Ireland.

In fact you don’t even need to use your imagination for such a scenario

Nope I don’t need my imagination, to realise it’s not getting us out of this league any time soon.

Sadler needs a good start to the season otherwise things are going to boil over very quickly

Way I see the Drogheda link is basically to get some of the young players up to speed and experience league football, helps they play over the summer.

DJT is pretty much a test case. I’m actually surprised given his background Maher hasn’t gone over there yet. Not sure how he played today but I thought last week at Tamworth he was pushed off the ball too easily against physical defenders.

Then in a year’s time it will be the next prospect who’s on the fringes of the first team here given league of Ireland is below standard of league 2.

It will be similar model to Man. City loaning players to Girona or Chelsea to Vitesse Arnham. Watford to Udinese

If a decent prospect like Weir comes through their own system then he’s already under Trivela structure so can move here.

Anyone thinking 5-6 amazing players are going to emerge from there is a little too optimistic. Think Preston a few years back signed some league of Ireland players but hardly any of them made an impact and went back.

The ones that prem clubs sign are generally 15-16 so you’d get back talent picking up the ones that are released at 19-20 by Villa and Wolves.

We just don’t know the extent to which players transferring between us and Drogheda will ultimately benefit us, but on paper that’s clearly part of the plan

No good for us being associated with some part timers from a tin pot League with people who can’t run one club properly … let alone two

I really like what I’ve seen through pre-season, a really good summer of recruitment allied with several players already at the club stepping up. I know we haven’t got a specific prediction thread yet but I think we will finish top 5.
