Expectations For The 2024/25 Season

I’d agree. Despite the denial of a Budget cut, frankly I don’t beleive it

Doesn’t really matter where we are now in terms of signings what really matters is what the squad looks like on Aug 10th, unless we can obtain league points from the friendly matches not sure we can though.

From the other thread:

The bookies have us around middle of the pack on the winner, promotion, playoff markets and you never see a poor bookie.

It doesn’t matter? I’m glad you are so relaxed that the season is only 4 weeks away and we don’t have cover in important positions and haven’t replaced 30-40% of last season’s goals. Perhaps you are happy to rely on a strikeforce of 1 player who can’t play 90 minutes, one who can but is unlikely to score, and another who might not even be here next season. I don’t feel confident waiting to see whether the Baggies feel like loaning Faal out again to us - it’s too risky a strategy. But perhaps I’m just too impatient, or that I’ve just seen this same scenario so many times before. I hope you are right and I’m wrong - genuinely.

The more realistic posters are never usually wrong and the happy clappers are pretty much always wrong. Finishes of 19th 16th 16th and 11th in the last 4 seasons prove it.

People say we’ve lost goals from Faal and Draper. 12 months ago neither had scored a single goal in the EFL

My point is just because you can’t see the goals now, doesn’t mean they won’t come.

I guess it’s the difference between folk who just at raw historic facts and those who give a considered opinion.

The squad is far more settled than previous seasons. There’s no need for your negativity. The fact we finished 19th 3 seasons ago will have no bearing on This season.

True I guess. However, it does impact supporters who are bogged down with year after year of poor performances.

Also, some posters including yourself keep using these past years to compare stats from last season against. No denying we did better last year but the bar is so low to compare against. Should be comparing against teams that actually get promotion or at least the playoffs to give a good marker.

A few things will define our season I think.

What forwards we bring in. I really think we need at least one who is going to make the kind of impact Draper and Faal made.

The fitness of certain players.

Having McEntee and Farq available for 30 games would be huge. Even bigger in my opinion if we could keep Earing fit for most of the season. He is a good player at our level, not spectacular but I think he makes a real difference to our team.

Anything can happen over a season so it is hard to predict. At this moment in time I think we are quite a bit weaker than last season, so a few good signings could boost the mindset of fans leaning on the negative side. It would me. If we don’t get in anything better than we have got up front, I genuinely think we will struggle.

I’m struggling to think of many excuses that can be made as to why we will not be challenging throughout the coming season.

For me, the majority of the excuses that have been made over the past 5 seasons seem to pretty much expire this season.

Trivela should have a full understanding of the football side of the business now, the manager has been given stability and the chance to build the often referred to ‘project’. Many are suggesting there is no major rebuild or turnover of players. The Bonser Babes influence and mentality that had stunk the place out for decades has been removed (other than LP hanging on for dear life). The league is not as strong this year.

The fact we have a much weaker squad and a striker who can’t score goals will certainly have a bearing

And yes I see all you posts on Gordon (high press/workrate) but with all due respect it’s not winning people round is it ?. There are huge numbers of posters on this site that believe this is a very very poor signing / player.

Personally think we have a much stronger squad than this time 12 months ago, plus probably new arrivals before the start of the season

Discussed many times already

But apparently not sinking in

the lowest league position Trivela can accept is 10th

it might not be sinking in but it’s a very lonely place defending Josh Gordon with a couple of others making the 3 of you right and the other 97 of us wrong :thinking::joy:

Don’t need to wait that long mate my phones on my lap.

We definitely won’t know then either.

I imagine we’ll just keep on perceiving it differently with the view that looks to be wrong expecting it to change soon, give it time etc.

We’ll never be free of the debate.

Dodgy “selfie”? :rooster:
