Yeah. We met people going t’other way.
All crap aside, that’s a realistic prediction.
Like I said, I’m being optimistic but the realist within agrees with you.
Think we are all in agreement a playoff place is what we are all expecting and hoping for.
As it stands with the players signed and the ones resigned, unless the new lads can make the step up, and big improvements in the performances of the ones back here I fear we are going to be dissatisfied.
It will all depend on what sort of quality signings we make from now on that will decide if we can finish that high.
Without wanting to get fully embroiled in the various arguments about the DJ situation, I do think it offers a convenient circumstance for the forseeable for all concerned and in particular Mat Sadler. Johnson gets to pick up his money without the hassle of leaving his young family to join another club. The club move on to (hopefully) sign some strikers, but with the convenient rider that budget is already stretched due to circumstances beyond their control. Sadler gets a free pass on the DJ situation. He no longer comes under scrutiny for not playing him, and certainly can’t be criticised for it… Even if in 6 months time someone asks him what’s going on he can refer to the fact that DJ didn’t get a pre-season, and by then he will hope to have other players bedded in. Not saying DJ isn’t ill, or at least hasn’t been at some point, but its a very convenient way of drawing a line under his time at WS1 given this is his last season without rocking the boat if things don’t go well. It essentially shuts down the whole topic of DJ.
In your dreams
The dj situation is a disaster as with doubt we have now lost our most capable forward. I would now downgrade my prediction to say without some significant transfer activity we will be in a relegation dog fight
What the hell is Boycott up to. Its almost like he’s sleepwalking the club into it
ha ha from Joaquin Ernesto the man guaranteed to get things badly wrong
Hmm must have missed that happening…
What like every season the praise for the owners hierarchy etc. Beyond any criticism
and then every season the predictable 16th to 19th finish in the basement division
Err, nope just not losing my shit at every little thing.
11th if i remember whilst being technically capable of finishing 7th going into the last game. But let’s not you worry about actual facts.
Why don’t you bugger off and support someone else?
Honestly!!
You’re presupposing again ,Manc.
Yeah. Maybe I am.
I’m entitled to my opinion. In my view a matt / Gordon forward line is relegation standard
well Matt would probably only play a few games anyway leaving Gordon as the only striker
Significant signings need to be made
It’s as though there some sort of conspiracy going on
To continue from another thread…
I think what disappointed me, or worried me most, from last season was that during our good run (Christmas-March) - we played a bit more of a quicker style, and with more positivity (not in all).
However… in the last 6 games, we seemed to revert back to the negative tactics and style we saw in the first half of the season.
I wonder how we will set up this season. My concern is we will have a back 3 of DD Farq and McEntee… and we will see this slower pace of football - particularly on our left hand side.
I personally would love to see a back 3 of Allen Dave and McEntee… and put faith in them to keep and be positive with the ball, and for the wide centre halves to push into the channels and then have the pace to recover back.
if the rumours are true that our budget is bottom 8 in the division then it’d going to be incredibly tough to get into those top 7 spaces. Success would have to be defined as another top half finish, outperforming our budget for the 2nd consecutive season.
Still think there is plenty of improvement in the squad from last year and indeed Sadler himself so a top 7 spot is not out of the question but more a possibility than a probability.
If we’re starting the season with Matt and Gordon up top then I think we’ll struggle to do any better than mid table mediocrity. If a decent striker isn’t incoming that will be massively disappointing.
I would be absolutely astonished if we started the season with Matt and Gordon as a starting front two, and even in the unlikely event they do then we WILL have new forwards before the end of August and DJ to return at some point in the Autumn.
