Absolutely, I’m a ST holder and been to every away game
It was two second strings, read the reports, look at the line ups.
Blackburn handed starts or debuts to a handful of youth teamers or first year pros. They chanced it and won.
As for Walsall. Only Riley, Daniels, Stirk, Mcentee & Hussey kept their spots from Morecambe. As for the game after the only Blackburn change starting against Stockport was Foulkes.
@Andy_Petterson this is UptheSaddlers not Harrogate. That 8/0 relevant how ?
Try again
I was there. Were you?
Remember we lost at Morecombe, and one of the areas of weakness was RWB. Naturally we put Foulkes into that position and he was close to a MoTM level performance for us.
As for the other positions, and if you remember the Morecombe game we were dead on our arse after 70mins. Players early in the season may well get swapped out from a loss to get into a game against a quick and expansive Blackburn.
Its as likely that the team was selected based on those factors than Sadler and the club didnt take the cup seriously…
It was who Blackburn played in the next round after beating Walsall. If they were ‘there for the taking’ how come Harrogate lost 8 nil?
He started the Stockport game 4 days later. Then Wrexham the next midweek where he struggled and needed to be taken out.
So what you’re saying is the same 11 that disappointingly lost at Morecambe on the first game should’ve been kept for the cup even though Blackburn showed Sadler guys like Tierney could contribute in the league eventually?
@Andy_Petterson i don’t know what line ups they put out for Blackburn Harrogate ? Only Walsall Blackburn. Fact is, our weak XI. Nearly beat their XI. It wasn’t taken seriously.,
@SaddlerHQ. Foulkes is not and won’t be first choice RB at Walsall. Not good enough or ready yet. Still playing out of position and piss poor Joe Riley there.
@Southwestern i was there yes. But no matter if you do or don’t go you can still tell a weak / rotated XI from a mile off as long as you can read.
The point was
Did Walsall field a weak team = Yes
Did Blackburn = Yes
Do we piss about in the Papa Johns = Yes
We don’t take cups seriously, silly decision
They got over 550 for a local derby st home against Sittingbourne in an earlier qualifying round, and this would be their first ever appearance on the 1st round proper (if they overcome Billericay of course - they are the underdogs to do that), so will be a very big thing for them and attract a hell of a lot more locals to go along.
If you are in the area, they are giving out vouchers at the replay tomorrow night to give priority for tickets if they do get through (obviously not of much value if they don’t).
It will be season ticket holders with minimum 5 away history first in line. If there’s any left it will be season ticket holders with any away history.
Hopefully they will only allow 1 ticket per person or there will be riots.
(I would prefer it to be season ticket holders for more than 20 years! )
Should give priority to the 270 fans that went to Sutton
FTFY
Plus a pie,pint and transport.
Sheerness one of the roughest uk towns I’ve ever been to
Too traumatised to want to go to a lower placed team and get soundly beaten again.
Priority based on number of away matches attended
Yeah that sounds fine, I’ll be ok as i haven’t missed one this season
Well done for that. Fair play
Ive done my time watching the Saddlers playing shite against Non league teams in the fa cup.
Windsor was bad
Northwich victoria. We drew that one
Telford. We won that I recall. Think that was around 1990?
Hereford away. Lost in the last minute I think. Hereford fans stormed the pitch. Round 2 possibly?
Before my time unfortunately
Those were the bad old days. Remember it kicking off at 3 out of the 4. Telford, Hereford and Northwich vics. Fa cup was a big thing years ago. Not any more
