Former players - where are they now?

You’re right, he left them just before they went up. O.k then key player as Jellis obviously was so I’d like to see Maher develop into that type rather than just be on the fringes in games which can happen with lightweight creatives.

He is still only 19 so not quite at the make or break stage just yet.

Maher is still on the Walsall books until he leaves on free at the end of the season, and goes so a league club that will make better use of his ability than we have. There is a thread dedicated to him, since he not yet a former player.

I doubt we will simply let him go…he will be offered a deal in my view.

Tamworth deserve a premier league side away in the next round, amazing effort from them.

That must be very unlikely if Sadler is still at the club in the summer, since he clearly does not rate him.

I think they’ll offer RAM a contract to make sure we get the correct compensation even if we don’t want him to stop

How do you know that? I don’t know that…the lad is 19 and our midfield has been functioning well .I expect a deal to be offered . We will just have to wait and see.

We let Foulkes go and he featured much more than RAM.
The way Barrett is playing recently, Foulkes would strengthen our squad.

Not sure that is relevant to the Maher situation. Barrett is much better player than Foulkes.

How do I know that Sadler does not rate Maher? The same way that I know that he does not rate Cleary. If a Walsall player does not get on the bench when there are nine substitutes, then he is not rated highly by the manager.

I do not agree that our midfield has been functioning well. When we were winning matches regularly it was mainly because of our strength in attack and defence rather than midfield.

If he were offered a contract, which I believe to be unlikely since I don’t think that Sadler would want to spend any of his budget on a player he did not expect to play, and Maher turned it down then we would be only be entitled to compensation for the money spent on his development, not for any putative transfer market value.

I don’t agree. We have a strong squad so someone has to miss out. Maher is on loan anyway.

He was not on loan when we played Bolton.

Im not sure if Sads rates RAM at all…he may do…he may not. I would say they will offer him a contract imo …i would also say joe foulkes is an entirely different prospect. I think RAM offers more potential imo thats why they would offer him a contract. Makes sense to protect compensation for development costs even if it was a 1yr offer. We will see i guess

From the highlights, RAM looks to be in the thick of it. An instant hero. Good on the lad.

Que?
Our results for November are WDWWDL.
That looks like pretty regular winning to me, 50% win ratio and only one loss.
Edit: even just for the league our last six are WWDDWD.

Maher is a good player , potential to be very very good
However he just doesn’t fit into a 532 formation , if we played 4231 like dean smith he’d be on the bench Atleast very often
He will have a professional career I’m sure

I thought Connor Wilkinson was quality against the Bromley kickers, he carried a real threat whenever he had the ball at his feet The shot off the bar was so unlucky and his through the legs skill and cross to the back stick deserved someone to be on the end of it scoring.

His record in games against League One and Championship oppo this season is pretty stellar …

Not an ex player but Salford captain Curtis Tilt is being interviewed on bbc 2 for the 3rd round cup draw.

Anyway thought his accent sounded local and it turns out he was born in Walsall. Didn’t know that.

His son went to the same primary school as my daughter, and when I went to the sports day he entered the parents race. Won by a mile without even breaking a sweat

Good player, surprised we never approached him, but he must be on a fair whack.
