Fryatt Hotel Watch - 2021 Summer Transfer Rumours

It’s far too quiet for me. Nothing coming out of the club apart from that they’re searching for quality loans! Wowee! Searching? How much time do you want?
I hope we haven’t been duped, as someone has said, as that will leave a bad taste.
No news, is usually bad news as far as Walsall fc is concerned, but there’s still time to lift our spirits before the serious stuff starts.
Get on with it though!!

We need good players that take stick off some members of the crowd and react with aplomb and dignity

Although it’s clear we need a lot more in terms of numbers, I don’t see the budget as being “blown”. We’ve signed three very good players for this level to strengthen the spine of the team. Wide players and full backs in this division are all pretty much a muchness. They are all capable of putting in 8-9/10 performances, it’s just consistency that sets them apart. McDonald being the prime example over the two seasons he was with us.

I’d much rather us be strong through the middle then take educated gambles out wide and at full back.

It’s times like this when I’d like the club to be more open and give an update oh how the club are doing
They could give an update to say something like we have we have offered a contract to a striker or central defender and are interested in a winger on loan with negotiations at an advanced stage or for example we have a number of trialists signed up to have a run out in our warm up matches.
They don’t have to give names or too much detail.

With the way footballers are being paid these days it would not surprise me one bit if Monthe Labadie and Wilko are on 2 grand plus a week each,to even tempt them to come it’s probably took a decent wage. The way this is panning out suggest a decent chunk of the budget has gone on those 3 signings as the next 2 weren’t as big and bold plus we started talking about loans all of a sudden.

But as mentioned previously by others then what club does this at our level? Would just give something else for people to moan at when we inevitably miss out on some of them (to be expected from any club due to location etc).

Everything started with a bang and huge optimism with the first 4 signings and now nothing, slightly worried we are now just going to get players no-one wants like most seasons.

Even a mention about season ticket sales would be good, makes you wonder if sales are pretty low.

Why do we have to be the same as other clubs?
Nothing stopping us being different.
We all accept that deals fall through and not all things work out but at least we would be better informed.

Not bothered in the slightest by the “Silence” from the club.
I’m sure everyone at the club is working towards bringing in the players that MT wants. If that takes time then so be it.

I don’t need the club telling me there in talks with players, because it’s obvious they are, not sure why you would need the club to tell you?

Despite the nonsense people have posted about me being anti Pomlett etc. I actually want things to work out for the guy and was pleased to see him looking happy in his latest video. If though… And we don’t know that this is the case YET we don’t sign the required players and we are left with a threadbare squad hoplessley inadequate to see the season out or even start a game. This would be a gaffe of absolutely momementus proportions. A gaffe I always thought Pomlett was capable of making but for a time the bar was raised and I actually thought he knew what he was doing. Next 2 weeks are critical

I am not getting despondent yet as I believe we will pick up 3-4 decent players on loan due to the connections of our management team. We also may pick up a few decent free transfers such as Max Melbourne. But, I’d like to see them come in ASAP as it a) gives us supporters a boost and b) gives the team time to bed down and develop a style and way of playing - everyone needs to know their job.

Much as I admire the super optimism of a couple posters above (inundated with ‘likes’) I do feel that I was right all along about ‘that being it’ as far as contracted players were concerned. Think Uncle Jeff has put his foot down about risking his Rent cheque by squandering salaries on pesky footballers.
The ‘squad’ will now be plumped up with freebie loans, especially with Taylor speaking this week about working with his team ahead of the friendlies. Looks as if the academy lads will have to work their socks off this year!
Lets hope our venture into the loan market, when we eventually pounce on the dregs during the last week in July, may bring us slightly better quality than was seen last season.
Still confident of a better season though, much more professionalism regarding the playing side of Walsall F.C. Enterprises.

God help us if we get any injuries. Hope it isn’t the case but if the budget now only allows the squad to be filled with freebie loans and youth players it’s a huge blunder from the club.

I don’t think we’re anywhere near done with recruitment. MT and JF know full well the squad is light.
I’m confident they are working very hard to bring players in, the right players. Judging from what they have said they are not going to sign players in desperation, or just to make up there numbers.
One thing we can be certain about is some of our top targets have decided (for one reason or another) not to join us, making the search wider and longer.
We know Matt and Jamie have great contacts with Spurs and Palace, remember both clubs have just appointed new managers who have to familiarize themselves with their squads so trying to get loans will take a little extra time.
I believe the manager will know more of what we’re all about after the Leamington game.

There will be a hatful of signings, but the fact it’s gone from proven L2, to non league hopefuls, to nothing at all is the worry.

There has to be signings we don’t have enough players for a game.

When the chairman bangs on about promotions again people will expect there to be done meaningful effort to achieve it.

Agree, looking at the photos from the training ground it looks a little pathetic.

My guess is that we’re going to rely heavily on loans.

If that is indeed the case would you agree that the vast majority of the budget has been spent/blown whichever way you want to dress it up on the spine,a spine that looks like it was a targeted attack to get in and reasonably early too?

Looks like we have bought a ferrari engine but we don’t have anything to put it in
