Grimsby Town (A) - League Two - Sat 19th Oct, 3.00pm

Excellent result where we kept getting stronger and showed the will to really dominate the opposition and punish them, really grand stuff.

Absolutely sick and tired of wank referees now, just really basic stuff they are getting wrong, as for that foul on Comley Christ he’s only just coming back, if the ref had got a grip of the game earlier on maybe the Grimsby player would have thought twice about that excuse of a tackle.

Jellis…take a bow that’s a thunder strike.

Don’t blame him at all, terrible tackle and no need at all.

The only relief is that Comley appeared to anticipate the challenge and jump out of the way. Relieved that he’s okay.

Wonderful football, great results and a real team spirit.

And yet, some on here still want to boil their p***. I get the wrath against the standard of league two referees but to moan about Simkin when he has literally been rugby tackled makes no sense to me…

Excellent 2nd half from Walsall, I felt like we were going to score every time we moved forward with the ball.
Fantastic goal by Jellis to really seal the game at 2-0, they weren’t coming back from that, Lowe and DJ added on to make it four.
We will be very lucky to hold on to Barrett at the end of the season, what a player he is! you just know he’s either going to beat the LB physically or beat him with an outstanding pass, he was unstoppable today.
Here I was complaining about Matt’s inability to score, he was excellent in the half, holding up the ball well and opening the scoring with a great header from a brilliant Barrett cross.
We just caught on fire and there was no putting us out, I just love it when we play like that.

Simkin did put himself in that position whether it’s a foul or not .
What I will say he’s lucky the goal didn’t impact the result or he would be getting even more stick.
Let’s hope he can regain some confidence but despite the result I think that mistake may mean he needs to come out the firing line for his own good.

Remind me to shake hands with the next bloke who tries to kick me like that, sure I would be well up for it…

Just sent a guy round the corner who lives in pelsall and from dingle Derry , claims to support arsenal ,the jellis goal , said watch that you won’t see many of them in the prem ,what a dick , why would I want to watch Walsall v Grimsby , he was only asking me yesterday to take his kids to a Walsall game cause he wouldn’t go and he had tickets ,tawt

So much to like about that clip, including the bloke waving goodbye to the home fans!

Question for the One pod beyond gents… shenanigans??

Definitely a foul on Simpkin for their goal but the lad needs a rollocking for trying to be clever. Perhaps he thinks he’s too good for League 2?

As to the Conley foul I think it depends where in the ground you were seeing it from. Playing it over in slow motion I feel the yellow was probably right as the player seems to contact the ball before the player, but it’s reckless as a tackle at best and on another day would be deemed dangerous and result in a red?

Criticism of referees by supporters and players, managers, pundits etc is as old as the game itself I’d guess. What is forgotten is that all are human and so prone to error. Also the interpretations of the laws of the game are complex, change every season with adjustments and finally are down to individual judgement. That’s why we all see things differently at any game.

I could be wrong, but I think Jellis is waving at Jackson Smith and shushing him! @simon

Simkin playing like that when he is costing our club is shocking from him.
Needs a dam rollicking not an arm around his shoulder if arrogance is his problem

Two supposedly forgotten men linking up. Both Hall and Johnson could still have a big say on how this season goes, particularly over the second half of it.

I’m far more tolerant and two eyed towards refs than many on here, but no doubt in my mind that todays’ ref was an absolute shocker.

Connor Barrett is actually incredible.

One of the best signings we’ve made in the last 20 years.

Its incredibly tiresome

What’s that now? 6 or 7 assists by November? Knowles was asked to play out of position as a wing back so you have to give him some slack but replacing Knowles with Barrett is like upgrading your Lada Samara for a Rolls Royce it has to be said.
