We have players in that squad with real quality. Throw in a sprinkle of experience and a gaffer who is instilling complete togetherness then that is what is needed for any promotion chasing team.
Dare to dream? Blimey, its been a while. Id forgotten what it feels like.
I dont think anyone has said we are missing josh gordon, that would be like someone saying we are missing gensanx’s well thought out and varied opinions
A couple of things to mention. One is how Sadler seems to be able to make small alterations that change the course of a game. This is not the first time it has happened.
The second is how good our disciplinary record is. Despite the ref making three awful decisions (and that does not include the bad ones that did not matter so much), none of our players got involved or received a card. This is so different from when the likes of White, Knowles and, of course, Labadie were in the book every game. There are always going to be the odd yellow card for fouls but we used to get them every game for time-wasting and answering back.
Fantastic result, and as others have mentioned getting positive vibes about this squad, look at players who didn’t make the match day squad the likes of flash and the priest, Evan Weir Maher, Reyes Cleary all would be comfortable on the bench and in truth would be starting in some other league two sides
So we should on current form beat CUFC Tuesday I just hope we don’t do the Walsall thing and throw an opportunity in the bin
Fair enough from what I heard on commentary. This will become a truism in time with our opponents. You’ll likely get a time, probably in the first half ,when we’re vulnerable, and you have to make it count, because you’re not often going to get another chance.
I thought that was Lakin’s best outing so far, he is growing on me. If he was half a yard quicker I doubt he’d be playing at this level. Makes some superb runs and doesn’t go missing when we don’t have the ball. He also appears to genuinely love playing for us.
I really like Earing as a footballer but I think our best midfield 3 as a unit is the one that started yesterday. Seems like Sadler feels the same unless he is just managing Earing’s minutes carefully.
Yesterday during the first half we never really got going and still managed to get to half time on level terms but second half we clicked and the difference between the two sides was there for all to see.
There’s talent throughout the squad and more importantly strength in depth.
That strength in depth gives us the advantage to switch it around without weakening the team, it’s going to be difficult for anyone returning from injury to get back in the starting lineup that’s for sure but it’s a nice headache for the manager to have.
I do feel sorry for the likes of Hornby because personally I think he’s a better option than Simkin.
DJ is another player who has done everything asked of him including scoring off the bench but in all honesty even if he got a hat trick I doubt he’d get a start.
