Grimsby Town (H) 12th September, 3.00pm

Lets face it most of us would have settled for a 1-0… Just need a 20+ goal scorer or two but that’s not the Walsall way UTS.

Nolan not in the 18 aswell. Guess Osadabe has overtaken him in pecking order already but he’s one that could develop at steady rate as season goes on like many of last season’s signings did so he could be another exciting option off the bench.

Lavery not going to cut the mustard for me I’m not slagging him off or booing him off but he doesn’t look like he’s got 10-15 in him if we sign a decent finisher maybe just maybe we could be flirting.

Some nervy moments at the end of the game, but we should have put the game to bed long before that had we been more clinical in front of goal.
Another good defensive effort, Norman again the stand out.
We let then into the game a little in the second half, Eli was a nuisance and deserved his goal.
I was impressed by Osadebe’s performance. He’s strong, good with the ball and creates chances.
It looks like CCM may be out for a while with his groin, good chance to Jules to stake his claim.
Not the best game, but the three points is welcome.
Had our diminishing been better it would have been 3 or 4.

He’ll just be a sub and start the odd game.

Actually have less striker options than this time last year in pure numbers so the space is there to get another one in if the budget allows but I’m not sure as Josh Gordon and Adebayo are miles better than their form in September 2019 as is Wes who’ll chip in with a few.

Comment from the Grimsby forum.

“The 2 home commentators on I follow are a right pair off ■■■■ heads they’re trying to make Walsall sound like Brazil.”

I agree with the first part :joy:

Great day. Got me new puppy this morning and the lads won this afternoon. Few beers tonight.

Bless, there was a couple of rottweilers our beagle befriended at dog training and they were lovely dogs.

Another 25 of those, and 8 or 9 draws, and I’ll be happy.

Just need a spark somewhere to make the total difference.

Just done my first iFollow are they supposed to be professionals these WM presenters or are they total **** heads, obviously not prepared before hand and he apparently went to the ‘little boys room’ at half time! Lots of stupid one way conversations going on. PPPPPP is what they need to be taught, needs more than one camera as well but better than nothing.

An encouraging first game of the season. Should have had a couple more goals in the second half to kill it but we looked in control mostly.

I was impressed with how we went for them whenever we lost possession, to try and get it back and close them down.

iFollow is terrible, picture quality , commentary and camera work.

Not exactly value for money is it.

Better watch out if I’m over Penkridge then

I agree with the comments about picture quality and commentary. but for us exiles that can’t get to games it’s great value for money. 160 quid to watch every home and away game ay to be sniffed at.

Three and half quid a game

Back on the topic of the game itself…

Good first game, although we had less possession I think we were the more comfortable team in the end, bar the first 10 minutes of the second half when Holloway must have give them all what for.

Can’t remember now if I’ve seen it here or on Twitter but I agree with the idea that our subs made us stronger where theirs made them weaker, and that bodes well for the season I think.

Need to be more prolific in front of goal, but we look like we have the makings of an exciting, young, hungry team.

Cautiously optimistic. First 6 games should be a good pointer as to what we are in for.
