Ok it was one game and I am always slow to come to an opinion on a player but if Lowe continues to perform like that then he is a real talent. The pace and movement he showed last night was the best I have seen in years at this level. Lets hope he can keep it up…that is the first time he has played 90 minutes in a first team game!!!
I doubt if either him or Adomah will start on Saturday, even though they were both full of running to the end.
I agree with you on that.
Not entirely true, he has actually played 90 minutes for Stoke’s first team in the Championship, and in his other two starts completed 70 and 88 minutes. He was around their first team for most of last season. He’s just a baby at 18, but Stoke must rate him highly to have given him that level of first team involvement, not to mention a four and a half year contract. And there’s another side to this. We clearly have a good relationship with Stoke, but they han’t sent him here to warm the bench and play cameos and cup-ties, he was already doing that for them. They’ve sent him here to play, which is probably why we got him.
Which would be ridiculous, but sadly you’re probably correct.
Lowe looked shattered at the end too, unsurprisingly.
At the end of the match, after a couple of minutes of celebration, he seemed to run off the pitch and down the tunnel in a rush. Anyone else notice that?
I think that’s what footballers do at the end of games, wouldn’t read too much into it.
The Manager said it was his first 90 minutes but it doesn’t really matter. He is super fit!!
Somebody said above that Lowe reminds them of a young Allan Clarke (except that Clarke did not miss penalties!) Clarke had Kirby to look after him; I wonder if Jamma can help Lowe in a similar way? He may need some protection.
I have only seen the highlights but, for the sending off, the ref either had to play on or send him off. If it is a foul, it is a red card.
For our 2nd and 3rd goals, there were two excellent headers. Gordon’s was sublime and Taylor Allen’s to the other Gordon was perfect too.
We made a decent start to the season under Flynn but not with the relative consistency over 5 games. It is early days but there is reason to be optimistic. I expect Saturday will be more like Tranmere than last night but let’s hope the team can cope with that.
He ran towards his family in the main stand, had a pic with a young fan too before heading down the tunnel.
Makes sense. It looked like he’d suddenly realised he had left his oven on
Not like Clarke to me. As you say “sniffer” didn’t miss penalties but in his first few games for us he did nothing in general play. Lowe contributed much more to our forward play. I agree he will learn a lot from Matt.
Yeah, I’d imagine if he’d scored his first league goals in a dramatic win at 18 he’d want to get straight to his family to celebrate.
No they weren’t.
I swear I watched a different Charlie Lakin. His control was excellent, but he gave the ball away far too much playing hollywood balls forward when we were trying to see out a win.
Hmm. I guess some folk can see the signs earlier than others.
Have you changed your mind about Jellis yet?
ok.
Nope. Lots of effort from him, but I said that at the time. Still needs some refinement, and gave away some very silly fouls last night when he came on and picked up a pretty needless booking
Filmed from the Huddersfield end… An ever repeating phrase was “7 you’re sh1t” even after Lowe had scored two
Lowe and Earing must start against Cheltenham.
Let Lowe run they ragged for 65 minutes and then introduce Matt or Cleary.
I’d be tempted to start Lakin instead of Stirk, but maybe that’s also a 65th minute substitution.
Jellis has to start, so Uncle Albert on the bench.
Competition for places, and the transfer window hasn’t closed.
Stirk had a poor game last night, but he’s been fantastic this season so far. Earing Stirk and Jellis would be my preferred 3 for Saturday.
