Harsh on Barrett but does uncle start at rwb Saturday ? He looks so much better there and his attacking play and creativity is the best in the team at the cost of the defensive side ?
I’m not sure about him at Right Wing Back at all. His pace isn’t fantastic and I’m not sure about him defensively, plus you lose his effectiveness further up the pitch, which is on a different level in League Two. I think he should be coming on for who ever plays in the most advanced position in midfield. He can still drift wide, but I’m not sure I’d want to rely on him defensively, especially from the start of a game.
Barrett will definitely start on Saturday. We will have to be sensible managing Uncle Albert’s load. What a great position to be in on that right side though!
Overall Conner Barrett has been good this season - though on Tuesday he wasn’t as effective as Adomah or Gordon on the other flank. It’s a really good problem to have at RWB as both Adomah and Barrett are very good for us. Personally, for Cheltenham I’d start with the same front two as against Huddersfield, but realise we might need to manage Uncle Albert’s work load.
Absolutely, but I’d say that was when Adomah was playing in an attacking midfield role, rather than right wing back. Work load aside, that is where I’d want to see him having a role for us, I can see a pacy winger giving him a night mare defensively. He’s absolutely excellent, almost exclusively in the oppositions 3rd of the pitch, rather than our own.
Fantastic evening for me. Watched the game in a pub near Holmfirth with 2 Town supporting mates, plus 1 Leeds fan who was an honorary Saddler for the night.
Quite a lot of other Huddersfield fans watching too so had good banter with them. Anyway, on buying my round just before kick-off I decided to give the Yorkshire contingent a proper Black Country treat, bags of scratchings. The portents did not look good - the bags were blue and white striped, and they were made in Yorkshire. But then I spotted the brand name, Uncle Albert’s I knew then all would be well
I really enjoyed last night. We looked confident, unphased even at 2-0 down, played some decent short and long range passes and seemed full of energy.
I would say all of the players that came in as changes from the Tranmere game, slotted in to their roles and positions seamlessly.
It’s probably wrong to single out praise for individuals for such a solid team performance, but aside from a certain Mr. Lowe, I thought Liam Bennett was especially impressive last night.
At long last it appears we have good quality options across the squad.
On Nathan Lowe, no offence, but can we give him a different song?. “Gold” should have been retired with the departure of Tom Knowles, although it was quite amusing they played it over the PA system at the end.
