Ideas to Improve the Pallet-Track atmosphere?

It’s all about excitement. If there isn’t any, atmosphere will be flat.

Saddler’s fans can be as up beat as at any other club, but if those that own us can’t be arsed, that rubs off on the rest of us.

Knock it all down and start again hopefully a modern stadium and doesn’t look like a B n Q

I did think this, the club do a number of excellent initiatives over the course of a season but there is always more they can do.

I like the idea of another screen and a large one at that, then they could play historic games from the past and classic TV like Corrie and Emmerdale Farm which would encourage supporters into the ground earlier to whip up the atmosphere pre kick off.

I love your posts but Emmerdale and Corrie :joy:

Most spectators love the soaps, it’s a wide topic of conversation around where I sit when there is a lull in play, what’s been going on in the soaps that week and the trials and tribulations of Gail Tyldesley and our very own Audrey Roberts.

If they played old Neighbours and Home & Away, featuring stunners like Melissa George and Natalie Imbruglia I might be more tempted to arrive earlier :face_savoring_food:

  1. Win at home, just occasionally..

  2. New floodlights, ours look like two candles in a sock (on a good night!)

  3. Tannoy system that you can actually hear.

Well I must be an exception here your Maj because I hate all of the soaps - never watch em and wouldn’t have a clue what was happening so I’d be out of my depth in your match day company…

I’m not sure improving the away stand would encourage more travelling fans. Most fans decide to travel on the basis of their own teams current form/prospects, as well as the time and date of kick off and how easy and costly it is to get there from their homes.

If they had a bad experience here before, that might put a few off from returning but away fans are no different to ours, and we still take large numbers to some right away dumps.

I think we should capitalise more on “exploiting” the away fans with more pop-up catering facilities when they do come here in large numbers, rather than actually changing the fabric of their end.

How about re-runs of Wheel of Fortune and Ready, Steady, Cook?

I think that might just put people off coming

I think that building a new away stand similar to the home stand would only make sense if we got back into the Championship where most clubs have big away followings. We are miles away from that at the moment.

I agree. I’ve been to quite a few games in Italy, Spain and Portugal and I prefer the English approach.

Over there you get constant noise, which many people equate with a better atmosphere, but you quickly realise it’s quite monotone. The crowd rarely, if ever, reacts to what’s happening on the pitch, there’s no back and forth with the away fans. It can be impressive in it’s own way, but I prefer the English atmospheres, even if grounds can be a bit quiet at times.

My biggest gripe with Bescot is that if you’re sat near the halfway line, 50 blokes singing in the away end will sound far louder than 200 home fans in the lower. The noise our fans make seems to escape up and out of the stadium.

The atmosphere must seem decent to visiting teams though, just look at how many teams turn us around so we are attacking the away end second half. That never used to happen a few years ago.

We have proved you can generate an atmosphere at The Bescot, just think back to the playoffs against Chesterfield.

It’s got nothing to do with the build of the home end, it’s just the fact we don’t generally have much to get excited about.

Hopefully this will all change this season, that is if the management can get a few more decent quality players in, and play some entertaining football instead of the gash we’ve had to put up with over the last how many seasons.

We need attacking, exciting football that gets people out of their seats, just look at the change in atmosphere when the second half we are kicking towards the home end, that has changed games, and long may it continue ( nothing worse than the away team winning the toss and turning us around ) …you can feel the atmosphere drain away.

It’s down to the team to get us pumped up and enthusiastic, this will make it loud at The Bescot.

Ps KC I can just see you sniggering as you type all of these threads on your keyboard … :joy:

I’ve said before we need sides installing to the ends of the Pallet Track (similar to Bournemouth..)

I’m not a structural engineer but I doubt any significant works would be required to the existing structure as the main purpose would be to add cladding and supports to help insulate the noise and provide improved weather protection for those nearer the ends of the stand…

Free chips, working bogs, endless green lights at the Broadway intersection after the match, and designating the rat run from the shopping hole a proper footpath.

Plus decent footie, which always solves the problem.

The atmosphere at the play-off game against Chesterfield was the best I’ve ever experienced. Give us something to cheer for and we will respond!

My Brother in Law took me to St Andrews for the Blues game v Sheffield Utd. The build up was something else. From Kick-off, minus 10 mins the build up started: Mr Blue Sky as the teams emerge / the Tamperer had everyone on their feet then ‘Keep Right on’ provided an electric atmosphere. Everyone joining in for all that they were worth.

We on the other hand have democratised our pre match with a fan choice of music - meaningless to most of us. Then for the walk-out and warm up it is just noise that is played that no one joins in with. We now have ‘Country Road’ at kick-off - excellent - but it’s far too late in the proceedings.

Our warm up is actually crap and has gone backwards. When we had ‘Ring of Fire’ or ‘Carnival de Paris’ it did get people on their feet and added some excitement. I don’t think the Club have twigged that they need to get people off their bums.
