we lack the pace and movement of Lowe, i would give Wheatley another chance playing with Matt as i think he has the pace and can pick up the movement. Harrison looks ok but no pace. January was a time to go and sign a top striker and a midfielder. looks like we have just signed squad fillers. Amantchi so far doesnt look impressive doesnt win much in the air either
Dunno if it’s true but someone told me a few players aren’t happy as the club turned down big moves for them in January.
Could be why no one has signed a new deal yet or could just be speculation.
What won’t look good on their CV is them bottling promotion. There needs to be some serious thinking the next few days and get a win by hook or by crook on Saturday. Doesn’t bare thinking about stuffing this opportunity up
I know Wheatley isnt happy being left out of 2 squads, I was sitting next to an agent yesterday, apparently he was assured game time then next thing you know we have 6 strikers on the books
Absolutely disagree. He probably saved us from losing towards the end. Good crossing bit not MOTM. No way was he one of the worst.. You thinking of Connor Barret?
Well if Josh Gordon is in front of you then ye it’s a fair shout.
Honestly how does Harrison not start last night?
What’s going through Sadlers head at times is worrying.
Agree. Lowe really stretched teams and was so mobile.
I guess that mobility is the one thing that Josh Gordon does offer in theory, but we didn’t really see it last night.
Well we’ll have to disagree on that one but I’ve already commented on Barrett
In the end they were opening us up far too easily from any area of the pitch and we were lucky to get the point and I would say no one deserved any credit from last night with the exception of Ellis…
In all truth, it was hard to pick a worst player based on that performance…
Can’t help it though can we?
+1 on hope. Hope is all we have. And hope is no plan.
Last 6 form table - currently 16th
Usually sleeping on a problem brings some calm and clarity - but not in this case! The more I think an it the more I’m certain that we’re all helpless bystanders to the biggest car crash in our history.
Match by match we’re steadily dismantling the hard work of the first half of the season. Where the chasing pack have strengthened we’ve got weaker, and where management decisions were changing team setup for the better they are now becoming increasingly baffling.
We’re steadily transforming back into the same pattern of inconsistency and lack of ideas that characterised WFC in the second half of seasons of the last few years. We seem incapable of re-capturing our form, and I’m becoming utterly despondent as I watch it unfold before my eyes.
At the moment we’re only going in one direction - and I’m not sure how we’ll recover from that - or how we avoid becoming a laughing stock to our rival supporters.
Please Walsall FC, prove me wrong!
We have no choice but to keep the faith, after 56 years of supporting the Saddlers we never do it the easy way. Don’t get too down. This is a very sticky patch, the season of highs has caught up on us. I want us to prevail and win the league but being 12 points clear never guarantees anything. Keep plugging away boys, hopefully we will get our form back, Saddler will find a plan B and the key players will be rejuvenated. Onwards to Saturday. Keep the faith. UTS.
Apparently there were bids made for Harry Williams Connor Barrett and Jamie Jellis and enquiries for Stirk and Liam Gordon that’s half the team pretty much.
Like I said no idea if it’s 100% accurate but it wouldn’t surprise me how well we were doing at the time that clubs would be looking.
Do players have a heading bonus?
So many times there’s a player in space who could bring it down on their chest, but aimlessly head it to an opposition player instead - Stirk and L Gordon are particularly bad for it.
If any of you guys who have given up have a ticket for the Bromley game I’ll take it off your hands.
Seems very harsh to use words such as ‘bottle’ for this Walsall side. I see huge effort every game. We have just dropped points because the teams we have played have managed a few very good goals against us. It won’t carry on. Walsall fans need to break out of such a negative mindset all the time.
100%, this is a massive difference.
It’s frustrating to watch that Barrett and Gordon rarely get forward as much now. We saw the chances that this kind of play can bring late last night. I get that losing Lowe was a massive loss, but I don’t see how his departure would affect this part of our game.
Agree with that. Dreadful term.
If we don’t finish the job, it won’t be through lack of effort or application on anyone’s part.
I suppose we will just have to suck up the piss taking (I know I will) and crack on again next season.
Whatever happens, I have enjoyed this season far more than any in almost a decade.
Bottle it doesn’t mean lack of effort, or at least I have never though of it in that terms. I always thought of it as letting the pressure get to you, to the point where you fail.
I think that is a fair assessment of what is happening right now.
