Yeah I think the big deciding factor between a suspension or a warning and a fine will be whether it was his own team/games he is involved in, or not.
Agree, that seems consistent with this case which has a lot more bets but over a longer period of time, however none involved a club the player was at when the bets were placed. Only a fine was issued in this case.
How do the FA find these things out? Has an old team mate said something?
It not like they can check his bank account etc.
Either way, hope he gets the help needed, if he hasnt already.
Or the best way for him to not have to wade through loads of social media bullshit once the story was published.
They can and do.
But for the grace of god⦠and all that shit.
Iām glad that what I got up to at 18-19 didnāt fook my career up, although in this day and age it may well have done.
Also, I met my wife at work when she was 18 and I was a manager. Probably be sacked now. Weāve been married for 30 years.
Iād really love to see our fans show a massive sign of support for Jamie at the first home game. Genuinely think heās a good lad.
The FA will be informed by a betting company.
100% this, the lad needs support and to know that the true fans donāt think he is the big bad wolf imho
No one is allowed to make a mistake these days and people want them finished.
Hopefully it isnāt too serious.
What is a worry, if it is an addiction problem, how likely is it that he has actually stopped. Iām not accusing him of anything or having a go but it must be hard to just stop once you are addicted. Hopefully there is nothing else.
For all we know he may of got into financial difficulties then dug himself in further
Agreed but if we get 2 in he may not make the team. His form has certainly dipped and this maybe part of the reason. I will certainly support him if he is picked.
Innocent until proven guilty (or at least mitigation) and all that.
Ultimately though there is zero tolerance for betting now compared to 80-2000s when players and managers would bet on the side without any repercussion unless it was their own team or fixing a game.
I can remember Ronnie Moore losing his job at Tranmere a decade ago and pretty sure he didnāt even put the bet on, just told a family member who placed it and it got traced back.
From what I remember Toney was charge and had it hanging over him most of the season before he was finally suspended in the April so guess that is why Jellis is still figuring as he might play some part but not ideal at all.
Club have known this for a few months seemingly (wasnāt there some ITK about this on here a month ago) so bit bemused why the CM recruitment has been so lax since May.
Jellis, Stirk, Earing and Chang is a fair bit of quality and experience to lose all in one go pretty much and we havenāt seen anything of the volume of incomings as at the back.
If he is banned heāll have to go to Gamblers anonymous or some sort of rehab clinic or course Iām sure.
Pretty sure when Tonali got his ban at Newcastle he had to do that and he also spoke at a clinic that deals with addiction. He mentioned that in one of the interviews he gave when he returned to play for Newcastle.
Club also rejected bids for him in January so he couldāve easily been someone elseās problem now and clearly the bidding club were unaware of these allegations.
Why?
Same
How thick are footballers to get caught.
Just open an account in your father in laws /sisters / dogs name.
Never understood it.
Also ā¦why donāt they publish the size of the bets. If itās a fiver here and there, who cares. If itās Ā£100,000.00 different ball game.
Do we know if he bet on goals from corners? Just trying to get to the bottom of why they are so bad. Joking apart I hope he gets the help he needs and the support network around him that he needs. It does leave us in a pickle in midfield though because we do have to carry on regardless.
There you have the problem in a nutshell. Case of double standardsā¦
Hope he gets the help if needed.
This will leave us desperately short in midfield i think we need at least 3 more in now
Betting company have a duty to report this. Its in their best interests to do it really
