Kemar Roofe imminent?

Rather cryptic image Roofe posted today

I’d be pleased if this happened.

Presumably it would only be a short term contract for the season? It then begs the question, what happens to Flash and Levi in January? Roofe comes in, therefore Jamma is surplus to requirements .

Be a good signing in theory, scored plenty of goals at a decent level, and only 32, although we’ve been stung many times before with players dropping down and being crap/not working out.

He’s Walsall based, has just set up a Football Academy in the Midlands, and it didn’t work out at Derby.

Josh Gordon is not league one quality, Levi has had opportunities at football league level and was a punt that didn’t work out, sadly.

I can see Jamma retiring very soon so the Kemar signing makes sense.

I’d be surprised if he’s demanding a King’s ransom. Would be a good addition to the squad, particularly over the busy Xmas period.

I thought the Josh Gordon loan was for the season with no return option in January.

Regarding Roofe, even a short term contract until January is worthwhile. Gives us another option and puts him in the shop window.

Also proves that Richards isn’t an option upfront as Sadler suggested on Transfer deadline day when we failed to get in another striker.

He’d be a very good pick up for this level, IF we can keep him fit. Short term deal till the end of the season and go from there.

Raises even more questions that need answers regarding our recruitment over the last 18 months or so, especially in the forward areas.

Perhaps he’s Waddock’s interim replacement?

Short term deal until January I reckon.

Nice option to have off the bench for the last 25 minutes of games.

Hope it pays off and clearly has (or had) the quality. 10 mins of football since the end of the 23/24 season does ring some alarm bells though

Surely would be here until end of the season? Don’t see the point of bringing him up to match fitness then letting him go 8 matches later. He can’t be a worse option than Matt.

I’d be more than happy if we got him, yes the lack of game time in the last three seasons is a worry but class is permanent and I don’t think we’d get a better option either now or in January.

Decent quality and local BUT massively injury prone, that said think I would prefer Roofe on the bench instead his knee brace rather than Jamma as I suspect a half fit KR would be infinitely more mobile that an “alleged fully fit” Jamma. Also as his cousin is singer Jorja Smith she could join us for half time entertainment rather than the “had its day” cross bar challenge

Is Kemal the less injury ravaged brother of Kemar?!

If it’s Kemar Roofe - probably worth a gamble if he has proved fitness and agreeable to all parties. We certainly need attacking reinforcements. Does those show again poor summer recruitment in attacking areas when we’re having to sign a 32 year old with around 20 appearances in 2 years whereas the attacker we signed on deadline day can’t even get in the squad.

Will break-up the Uncs/Matt pairing to finish games if nothing else

I might get slated for saying this, but imagine a strike partnership of Kemar Roofe and Tom Eaves on the pitch. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Tyler Walker would be decent too…

The worry I would have is his lack of playing time.
Players have to be sof-fit or Sads won’t pick them.
