Always said you know what your on about .You can definitely see why he was beating the rest of the teams running stats in training he works tirelessly all game.
What should the midfield be on Saturday @el_nombre ?
Is this a test after I’ve just said that or just timing?
Agreed.
I’d argue from a playing and coaching perspective that hutchinson is also out of position and too high. He should maybe be a little more in line with Earing and the two should be closer together.
Until possession is secure, of course.
But the Charlton player gaining possession is the recovering forward and could or should have been tracked by a Centre Back and at least been put under pressure to prevent him turning.
Cheers.
Not sure, but I’d definitely select Kinsella, whatever the make up is
So no answer ?
Silenced again
How is that no answer? I have no idea, I just know the name that I would have on the team sheet.
And their players appear gutted.
Our George did his best to ramp the atmosphere up. He burst out into yellow ribbon. I told him to calm down as there would be a stewards enquiry for being that loud upstairs
On a different note, I enjoyed sitting near to the dugout as it was interesting watching Flynn and Hatwell giving instructions to players. You could see how frustrated they get too.
Because I was asking you to think through the make up of the midfield - and how that would look like. Trying to make you see the arguments others are making.
What would your midfield 3 be on Saturday ?
Comley is better on the ball, but is also good at breaking up play. Kinsella’s best work is off the ball and not giving the opposition any time.
It will all depends on how Flynn wants to play. I think he’ll persevere with both of them for a little while longer.
Not sure you can make whole sale changes on the back of a a decent performance against a Charlton Academy/B Team.
As positive as it was, you can guarantee that Saturday will be a sterner challenge.
Grimsby are a passing side, so I would play Kinsella on Saturday to break up play.
The real dilemma here is where we expect goals to come from. Based on the team who started against Hartlepool, this is all I can see;
Full backs/wing backs - 3 or 4 for the season?
2 Centre halves - 10 maximum between them?
Comley - perhaps 3 goals
Kinsella - 0 goals, as always
Hutchison - 3 or 4 goals?
Johnson - 20 goals
Williams - 5 to 10 goals?
Off the bench - 5 goals perhaps?
So, with both Comley and Kinsella in there as part of a midfield 3, you’re looking at, potentially, less than 50 goals for the season. Now, unless the defence is absolutely phenomenal and letting in a lot less than that, we’re not going to be anywhere near challenging at the top end with those figures.
It’s been the problem for a good while now - a successful team needs all areas of the ptich contributing to goals scored. I get what Kinsella brings to the team but the fact is you immediately rule out one of your ten players from contributing a goal. If you then add Comley in, who might be capable of 3 or 4, you’ve got 2 of your midfield contributing, potentially, 3 goals for the whole season. Not good enough.
Agree with most posts, saturday comley needs to play, i know i will be hated but kinsella offers nothing going forward. Also i dont thing Tammy is good enough, as most players got into the game Tammy just seemed to have no clue about where he was playing.
As long as he plays one or the other I’m personally not fussed and when flynn has decided to make that move I’ll have a think about the pros and cons of both players.
And I told You I have no idea. I think there are lots of options. Comley has done well so harsh to be dropped. Kinsella has been fantastic again. Earing has always been a quality player, Hutchinson started well but already has a lot of miles and has dropped off a little, Maher looks good, if a little lightweight, to be completely honest I haven’t been impressed with Knowles.
So taking that into account, I’d probably go Comley, Kinsella, Earing, however maybe we could go 4 at the back to accommodate Knowles/Hutchinson too, however that would probably mean dropping the excellent Peter Clarke (not too sure he has the legs for a 4 at the back formation), which I’m not sure we should do.
So as I said, I don’t know is the answer, but I know one name I definitely would play and I know how much that irks you, because you insist on this discussion irrelevant of performance or result of any match
