L 2-0 vs Cambridge United (A) - Papa John’s Trophy R2 - Tue 30th Nov, 7pm

Miller to be frank is awful. Started strongly and backwards he’s gone. He’s now at what presumably is his level which is completely dire

Lack of gumption. Not incisorive enough, otherwise we’d give somebody a right canineing or molarin.

God knows what they do in training

I’m not too bothered by matches where we create lots of chances and look good in general play, only to succumb to two individual mistakes.

It’s performances like Saturday that are more concerning and the overall lack of consistency in our attacking play. The build up play and confidence on the ball that we saw tonight is exactly what we should be carrying over into league games.

I wouldn’t be all that bothered, however I think we all know the club desperately wanted to win that.

Just Saturday to go and that’ll be another season done by Christmas.

On one hand you could look at all the chances we created tonight and see some cause for optimism. But that would be hugely generous to the club, the management and players.

This management team and set of players have a likability that we perhaps haven’t seen in recent years. And there is the odd sign of a recovery beginning to build. But it is the odd sign and when it does show itself it is hugely fragile.

It might end with us doing a bit better than last year. Maybe a 13th or 14th place finish. I doubt any better. And that will be because we keep signing groups of footballers who aren’t better than the bottom 10% of their profession. Being a professional footballer maybe an over reach for many. And for a few of our recent managers, managing a league club undoubtedly an over reach which means the odd player who may well have been good enough has slipped through our fingers because their gaffer wasn’t up to getting the best out of them.

But as ever you need to look above the pitch and above the team management and look at what is going on “upstairs”. Players come and go and managers held accountable. But that’s where accountability stops. I’ve never seen an organisation quite like it. We barely bat an eyelid now at losing home games to Harrogate and going out of cups to a Cambridge reserve team. We’re conditioned to failure. We’ve been conditioned to failure.

I like Leigh. But he’s not delivering anything other than a re-birth story every summer. To his credit, he’s pulled them off and most of us have brought it. Even after a Bonser-esque January last year we still joined the virtual queue for our virtual season tickets. But it is becoming increasingly hollow.

We’re giving it a good go though. With footballers who switch off at some very important times. A good go.

@Gensanx123 spouting rubbish again after a defeat. Imagine my shock.

You would think with over 20 shots on goal, 7 on target we would hit the back of the net. Their keeper made some really good saves, but we should have scored.
In defense of Ash Taylor I thought he played pretty well until he misjudged his header back to Rose, with his experience he should have done better.
It seems like every game we’ve played this season we’ve been on the front foot and come at our opponents hard…with no end product. This is a real problem MT has as we’re not servicing our forward line. These long balls down the flanks usually end up with the opposition, we have too many players trying to walk it in instead of shooting ball or laying it off.
This is a really frustrating team to watch.

How many goals have we scored from set plays this season?
How many from players having the confidence to take a punt from distance?

It’s hard to know who to blame as this is the third set of players realistically with our 4th manager ( keates team , Clarke and duttons team and Taylor’s team)
All 3 sets of players bar a few key individuals are total crap failures for us and all 4 managers are failing miserably and unable to improve poor players or play proper football which we claim to do ( I don’t see it)
Are we seriously unlucky or is our boards recruitment and player recruitment just shocking in which case the whole club needs yet another total revamp top to bottom.
Pomlett football-wise is worse than bonsor

Whether Taylor played well the rest of the game, watch him for both goals. Of course, the second one is entirely his fault for a weak half-hearted header. But, in some ways, the first shocks me more. If Monthe had made a successful tackle, he would have needed his fellow defenders to help him clear up the danger. Not only is Taylor completely out of position, it would be generous to say he was strolling back. He really couldn’t care less.

This follows on from the last game he played where I seem to remember he turned his back on an opposition shot, which scored.

Something is seriously not right with him. I wonder if his family haven’t enjoyed the move down? Is he one of the players who had covid pre season and is still struggling?

We scored one from a corner (Ash Taylor) and one direct from a free kick (shade). And that’s it I think. It is really poor. Especially when you think about how many we’ve conceded. The one on Saturday particularly awful.

We’re just really bad at all bits of set pieces. I found Taylor’s remarks at the fans forum baffling to be honest.

Well that’s my view. Sorry u don’t agree but Wilkinsons final pass or option selected is always either wrong or its correct

If its rubbish Mr fountain of all knowledge then how many assists has he done.

What about the one against Port Vale :joy::joy:

I’m very worried that the 11 years unbeaten run of games I’ve enjoyed for my annual Christmas works do at the Bescot is at threat. :grimacing:

Matt Taylor isn’t a very good manager based on the evidence is he?

Oh wow. One. Ur the one talking nonsense not me. Wilkinson either chooses the wrong option or the right one and just overhits the pass. U don’t have 15 loans and clubs unless there is a bit of an issue

Also for Earing’s goal at Oldham.

Wilkinson isn’t the problem, you just can’t help yourself after we lose. Anyone who represents WFC is fair game according to you, apart from of course your best mate Jeff.

Have you looked him up. 15 clubs. He’s only 26!

Absolutely correct. We were never this crap under Bonser.

No he ain’t, tactically naive, he might talk nice but he won’t take us anywhere except conference, his post match comments are beginning to get boring almost as much as the dimwit who asks him the same questions week in week out.
