L 2-0 vs Swindon Town (A) - League Two - Sat 16th Sept, 3pm

Unfortunately due to a rather severe bout of the new covid variant and doing my bit to stop the forward transmission to fellow Saddlers, alongside an assignment from the better half to artex the recreation room, I won’t be attending a game I always look forward to despite the difficulty of the Energy Check County Ground as an away venue. A pre-match amble around the magic roundabout is a rare treat.

As for the game a 3-1 victory for the Super Saddlers, it’s typical that away wins will come like West Midlands buses, you wait an age for one and then two come along at once. Hope Flynn gets a good reception from the Saddlers faithful.

Does anybody know if there is a price increase if you purchase on the day?

Difficult game, especially if Daniels isn’t fit.

We gave Mallan far too much space 1st half on Saturday, so we would need to learn and keep Kemp quiet. Also, Flynn will know our limitations and I would expect Swindon to try and exploit Knowles defensive quality.

Not sure what formation we will play.
Perhaps 4-2-3-1 as we finished last week with Gordon for Allen and Knowles for Oteh.

Alternatively 3-4-2-1 with
Priestly, Daniels, Allen
Knowles, McEntee, Stirk, Gordon
Tierney and Hutchinson
Draper

I would guess he is ok.

Did he not go over to celebrate with the fans at the end of the game? My thought’s are if it was anything serious he would have been having it looked at asap and resting as much as possible.

I think we’ll get a right spanking at Swindon, the way they have been scoring for fun we just wouldn’t be able to keep up with them. 4-2 to Swindon.

Just checked, there is pay on the day!!

yes mate card only

Probably 5 or 6 of us paying on the day and I’m sure there will be more.
Swindle will probably do as they did on Boxing Day and only announce the pre sold tickets whilst the money from the on the day sales mysteriously vanishes (or rests somewhere).

Same team that won us the game second half against Salford apart from Gordon for Allen

I remember this too. Must have been 200+ under reported that day.

If Daniels isn’t fit surely McEntee will have to play centre back.
Despite his lack of experience, he’s more experienced than Dave, Harry and Taylor.

Start with DJ and Draper up top

First one I’m missing other than the pizza game.

We should be feeling good about ourselves and see this as a bit of a free pop. Anything we get would be great. I’d take a point right now.

A lot will depend on injuries. If Daniels is out then with Hussey retiring it leaves us very thin. Would surely need to be The Priest and Mcentee in a four.

However if Daniels and Knowles are available then it looks more promising.

I’d bring back Johnson for this.

I’ll go a 2-1 defeat.

I’d play Tierney as a second forward with Draper

He doesn’t offer enough in midfield alone but he’ll press and show energy further up the pitch to prevent Swindon playing out and also drop in to be another midfield player if we’re under pressure or getting played through.

Neither Matt or DJ or any of the other forwards will offer that.

The aim will be to stunt their attacking play first and rely on counter attacks or moments from our match winners to nick a point or maybe all three.

Biggest under reporting I’ve seen was Mansfield when their chairman was alledgedly doing dodgy stuff some years ago. Home end held 1,000, only about 20 empty seats and they announced our attendance as 300 something and the home fans sang “and the rest, and the rest”.

Biggest over reporting was Wimbledon when playing at palace before moving to MK and they were trying to do PR. About 500 of us and I counted the home fans one by one while on the phone to my mate, 54 of them, announce the attendance as nearly 2,000.
