I get the impression Sadler is a bit of a teachers pet. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went to the board saying certain things when Flynn was in charge to get to where he is now.
We don’t play 4 at the back.
Which is ironic really given we could actually fill those 4 positions with players who actually play in that position.
I know
It’s mad. If Sadler persists with the 3, are we now saying Allen is a first choice centre half?
It’s bonkers.
A bad day at the office, they happen to all clubs, it is how we move on now and react next week back at fortress Bescot.
Yes, that’s the level of business the club has done over the summer.
Not ready to throw myself off a bridge and still hopeful of a decent season. But there are worrying signs, square pegs in round holes, obsession for a system we dont seem to have recruited effectively for, inability to perform at high intensity for 90 mins resulting in poor performances for 1 half and either slow start and/or poor finish, DJ situation ie not being able to get best out of our best goalscorer…
A few positives in the season as a whole but Sadler needs to address some of these issues above urgently. Waddock is presumably having a fair bit of influence? They will ultimately be judged on results, certainly not giving up on the season yet, then again i never do
The dj situation, people having ago at draper when he was up top with no support at all against a flynn team. Players out of positions all over the park and people are blaming budgets and players? Honestly
Some of the stuff I’m seeing on social media from our fans is beyond belief 1 defeat in 4 looking online you’d think we are on a massive winless run.
We have been for the last 5 years ffs
How dare people have expectations
Whats the past got to do with the last 4 games.
I think the plan of playing one up front with Tierney in support was a good one against a free scoring team… Unfortunately that plan was undermined by conceding a first minute goal. It happens but we did not concede another until almost at the end of the game. Personally I would have changed things at HT by bringing DJ on to support Draper. It was too little too late from MS and then the sending off made things worse. Anyway we now need to put things right by continuing to win at home.
Interesting that Flynn doesn’t seem to like / rate sadler?
Or maybe sadler was a key reason Flynn was sacked - sadler seems a yes man teachers pet sort towards the board - how else would he have for the job over the experienced candidates - then suddenly jumped into flynns job as soon as he went
I’d be pissed at sadler to
A lot , we’re still as crap
Well this is a thread about yesterday game and yesterday was a shambles. This 1 defeat in 4 to sugarcoat it doesn’t justify yesterday abysmal decision making
Thought yesterdays game was awful, not exactly our performance but just overall. We played a way which stopped them playing but it stifled us too.
Unfortunately when you go a goal down so early on you have to change that, we seemed too concerned about their attacking threat than having any attacking threat of our own.
Very disappointed by the number of poor passes though, we looked to be rushing it out of our feet to someone else and it seemed as though most of the time we ended up just losing the ball.
We need to get better at keeping hold of possession, the stat of averaging 39.4% possession this season confirms that.
Some of the players positions baffled me yesterday too, stop shoehorning players into positions. Keep it simple, it’s what the most experienced and successful managers in this league do.
Interesting that sadler is willing to sacrifice not using his best players eg johnson or playing players in the correct position eg knowles / Allen just to play a 532 which isn’t even proving to work
I’m very worried about this season.
Recruitment has been poor for a system either MJ or MS are insisting we play.
Did MS learn nothing last week ?
Square pegs and all that.
On to Swindon, I thought we were really poor.
The basics are just not there.
Our passing was really poor, decision making really poor, crossing pathetic and marking on free kicks and corners woeful.
I think Thierney,Knowles, hutch and Allen has really poor games but again some of those guys don’t have the quality and are being played out of position.
Fitness is also a concern for me,
But you blamed players too. Just different ones to others. I’m not saying you can’t or shouldn’t but I am saying you can’t say others can’t or shouldn’t just because they’re different players to yours.
A really flat performance from start to finish and not the open, exciting game I was expecting.
Got to admit I find Knowles pretty irritating to watch. Lots of falling over, getting into needle with the opposition and not much else. That said I do feel sorry for him, as I don’t think wing back is his natural position, although I’m not sure what is?!
Gordon perhaps a bit worn out from his international exploits. Shame as he was so good against Colchester.
Early days yet of course, but this team looks to have mid-table written all over it. Another season over by February/March will be hard to swallow.
