He just doesnāt score enough goals for me. He is not a natural goalscorer - he doesnāt anticipate well enough to make sure he is in the right place at the right time - that is the essence of a natural goalscorer. DJ has some of that in his game. Iād like to see DJ start in our next 2 home fixtures - we have to win them both.

Totally agree with your point. If you look at the last few winners of L2 playoffs, they have either come straight back down or really struggled. Honestly, if we went up this season we will be straight back down with haste. Iād rather we use the current squad as the foundation, recruit well to improve our weak areas (wingbacks, upfront, Hutch replacement) we will have a solid Top 7 squad, with the potential to push Top 3. We are in a really solid position for the first time in years & as long as we capitalise in the next summer window, next season could be special

Agreed , he has quality in his game . Pace , good passing , skill , determination. Add composure on the final ball and youāve got a League 1 or even above player.

Heās a brilliant modern day wing back and perfect for Sadlers system. Being selfish I wish he didnāt have the international commitments as his position is so demanding physically and that break would do him and us the world of good but heās a fabulous player and weāre lucky to have him.

I have enough time on my hands to have worked out that in Josh Gordonās 17 appearances for Walsall this season we have Won 7 Drawn 5 Lost 5 which would give us about 70 points over a full season, finishing around 9th most seasons, better than before, but not quite a play-off place.
But there are 22 players on a football pitch, plus a referee, plus a lot of unpredictable random factors, all of which affect what happens, so it is not a good idea to ascribe results to the presence of one individual who neither scores nor assists a lot of goals.

So a PPG of 1.53 and that must mean without him we had a record of W10 D6 L9 a PPG of 1.44.
Yet you claim to be baffled that we start him.
Of course, just as it be would be shortsighted to ignore the defensive contributions he makes, the space he creates for others, the chances created for others (which somehow donāt count as good work by him if missed), the effect of tiring out their players for others to exploit.
Or you could just look at headline numbers like assists and goals scored (which I do agree he should have more of).

We also need a points deduction for Crawley for being such a shte place to visit!
In my opinion the area we fall short, and why we may well miss our on the play offs, is in the final third. Our front men all work hard, have a great attitude and contribute a lot with their link up play, pressing, chasing and harrying. But they havenāt converted anywhere near enough chances, turning potential wins into draws and potential draws into defeats.
While weāre decent in most other areas - and credit is due to MS and his team for this - we need more quality up front. It seems that, despite his record as a finisher, they feel that DJ canāt do the link up play, pressing, chasing and harrying well enough so heās left on the bench. So they need to find and recruit the players who can do both.

It will all be down to our Ben next season he appointed a rookie whoās done more than okay .we have a decent core of players for next season donāt think thereās an awful lot of disagreement on who stays who goes. bar one or two .does he back his manager and a promotion push with some investment in quality players that we undoubtedly need or does he stick with incremental improvement wait on youth and sign Gordon like strikers and loans .and carry on with letās give it a go and hopefully emerge from the pack of 12 or so teams .action WILL speak louder than words .
You canāt fault Josh Gordon for his work rate and he does do the pressing that Sadler requests of him but players letās say likeā¦ā¦.Bradshaw used to run his knackers off all game and still managed to score plenty of goals.I can see both points of view on here as regards his work rate against his lack of goals but I have the feeling that if Josh scored say 1 in 5 the latter of those two arguments wouldnāt hardly be mentioned.He doesnāt score anywhere near enough goals for me personally and goal difference is part of that final league table not how many kilometres players run.

He got a shade under 1 in 3 at Barrow and previously here he was a 1 in 5 man in a poorer side than we have now. Heās not prolific by any means but has the ability to contribute into double figures over the course of a season. I have a feeling weāll sign him permanently in the Summer, Sadler is a massive fan of his, which I know will be underwhelming to many but heāll by no means be the only forward player coming in.

Evans should never play again for this football club, at the start of the game last night when he came over to our goal he didnāt clap the fans once although most were chanting his name. This despite the fact heās cost us numerous points this season. Get him gone. Useless.
