L 2-1 vs Mansfield Town (A) - League Two - Sat 28th Oct, 3pm

Starting to annoy me now we had a spell in that game of max 25 mins as you say. Does he think we are stupid or does he really think that?

And the stats don’t help him either.

We always seem to have a spell in most games, but is that just because the opposition take a breather, or do we make sure we as a team can maintain it for more than 20 minutes per game.

Yep, they were superior for 2/3 of the game and could have been out of sight before we scored.

We somehow got a goal and it rattled them, we could and probably should have pushed on and won the game but still found a way to lose it.

It was a tough game no doubt and the loss is no disgrace in itself but it is all so predictable.

Pathetic from him tbh. He says that teams at the top get that kind of luck and that we are striving to be where they are. Well he should also learn that teams at the top often play for more than 20-25 mins in games and that’s why they up there too. Didn’t go but from what I read we were lucky it was only 1 at half time and the stats seem to back that up

To be blunt they are / were both poor for us, that’s the sad fact.

Highlights

16 games in and our record is exactly the same as last year under Flynn.

We have scored 4 more goals and conceded 12 more goals. Last season we had a positive goal difference of 4, this season we have a negative goal difference of 4.

Make of that what you will.

Are we in a better or worse position than this time last year or the year before?

We are certainly not better, so it makes a mockery of all the BS the club comes out with.

I’m tired of being in this division and slowly slipping behind teams that 10 years ago were non league. Just how is it that they have better footballing know-how than us?

I’m not expecting massive improvements overnight - just some kind of tangible footballing thing we can say we’ve improved on in the last 3 years - there isn’t a single one. We are still bobbing around the lower reaches of the lowest professional league, picking up just enough wins to keep our heads above water.

Exactly why I don’t get why certain folk are saying we are better than last. We are absolutely no different if not a tad worse cos we leak goals to fk

We can blab on about injuries season after season, we just ain’t been good enough & Walsall fans need to stop defending the indefensible

I don’t like to criticise players when we’re like this as I don’t believe there’s a single player we are getting the most out of, with the possible exception of Draper who obviously has alterior motives for doing well.

Every single other player is playing nowhere near their potential and therefore as a team we are less than the sum of our parts.

Could well take a nasty dose of non-league football to galvanise the club. It’s happened with pretty much all our BITD rivals. The town will only appreciate what it had once it’s gone.

The absolute sad part for me as a long standing supporter of this club of ours is … the lack of quality players we attract or sign now , we seem way way off the pecking order of clubs we historically looked down at, but now have been over taken by, it really is a sad state of affairs

Interesting perspective from Nigel Clough on how we’re viewed from the outside.

Much closer to that than League 1.

Rather than taking the positives I wish … really wish he’d take the negatives more seriously
Our defence is killing is
Our set pieces are killing us
Balls into the box terrify us
He needs to make that his main focus

Interesting comparison. I can’t recall many calling for Flynns’ head though, not until well into the second half of the season.
I remember someone starting a thread but it was almost unanimously shot down in flames.

Was around this time last season that we lost 2-1 at Mansfield and then went on a really strong run all the way to January. Here’s hoping for a repeat!
