The team is full of players that can’t handle pressure.
Bottled last season, bottled this season, and put under any pressure in games they retreat to their own half inviting opposition teams on to them whilst crapping theirselves hoping to run the clock down for a draw or narrow win. Inevitably they just f*ck it up.
Bring on the No-Bottlers Policy and clear most of them out.
Same here, but the nail in the coffin for me was giving Byfield the job until the end of the season. I bought a ST last season thinking even we weren’t bad enough to balls up promotion, I was fooled. Giving my money upfront again without knowing who the head coach is doesn’t strike me as a good investment, so I won’t be fooled again.
That’s that then folks - another season, another failure. A bottom half finish looks inevitable - absolutely pathetic! Trivela (beyond clowns), the management team past and present and players should be ashamed.
Obviously I wanted us to win but in a way I am glad they have put us out of our misery. Also, please no more talk about Byfield being manager full time. I’d rather he just left the club, personally. Bingo team selection, topped by the subs. Harper, I don’t need to say anything. Pressley made us worse not better. Okeke not getting on the pitch is ridiculous, should be starting.
Harper obviously the main culprit, some poor goalkeeping also. I didn’t think Flint covered himself in glory either.
I’m not having a dig at Byfield, things have been a bit better than under Sadler it just tells me what could have been, last season and this season if they had acted when it was clear Sadler couldn’t turn it around. The January transfer window was laughable. Signed two players that Bristol Rovers didn’t want.
I doubt I will bother for the rest of the season now. Shame, but not unexpected. It really is depressing being a Walsall fan.
Like I’ve said since Sadler was shown the door ( way too late ) that Byfield was a failed non league coach, he has zero tactical nous or in game intelligence he would be Sadler Mk 2 should be gone now, there’s nothing left to play for , put little Ben and dame Pomlett in charge it doesn’t matter, amateur club with amateur management and owners. Best wishes to anyone who bought early birds you truly have a high pain barrier.
For me we had to give the job to someone we intended to take us forward. They sacked Sadler with no plan in mind instead giving it to Byfield and hoping he would transform us and give it him as a cheap and yes man option! A new manager could have assessed what we had, got rid of dead wood and brought his own players and coaches in the summer
Okeke doesn’t get off the bench again? Why bring in harper who’s a left sided player and play him right back ? Just bloody play players In their proper positions ffs. Byfield out and clear the deadwood once and for all. The yanks have a big summer at every club they own
Happily, it seems that he club has given up on me - it hasn’t sent a season ticket renewal flyer since 26/03.
I’m obliging them by not renewing for the first time in over 20 years.
Today just summed up the absolute state of this club, the players, the leadership and the ownership.
…and both matches were eminently winnable - with concentration, application and holding of nerve.
Although we don’t score many goals we’ve (recently) got into so many winning positions in games but haven’t - at managerial or team level - had what it takes to get the job done.
Then up comes the nemesis in every Walsall season - the January transfer window. Absolutely zero lessons learnt from last season’s collapse of the generation.
Only had a ST this season because I’d bought in the early bird thinking L1 was secured. If they think I’m stumping up after this seasons anaemic efforts, no lessons learnt and no manager in place, they’re very much mistaken. I’ll pick and choose the matches I turn up to, much like some players.
Trivela had no plan to get rid of Sadler. That is plain to see with Daz being appointed till the end of the season. For God’s sake he’s only managed at Alverchurch, Redditch and Walsall Wood. The decisions from the hierarchy at Walsall is amateurish. They deserve this. The supporters don’t.
