L 3-0 vs Newport County (H) - League Two - Sat 10th Feb, 3pm

They’re competing with the tabloid radio of Talksport and absolutely defying the old adage of “when they go low we go higher” by joining them in the gutter. Sutton is ideal Talksport fodder and not a “paid for by an indirect tax” role model.

Nothing against Talksport by the way. It’s fine commercial radio a lot of the time. It is pulp it is pap and immediately disposable but does a job when you’re nipping around in the motor.

I like Paul Hawksbee on TalkSport but I’m not bothered about anyone else.
I sometimes listen to five or ten minutes of TalkSport while I’m washing up or doing some chore, but I couldn’t listen to much, apart from Hawksbee.

I put a match commentary on Talk Sport over Christmas, jeez, the difference in quality compared to 5 live is staggering, even allowing for Clinton Morrison. I suppose it is to be expected.

I don’t listen to anything with Robbie Savage on but overall I do enjoy 5 live. Love a good match commentary with Pat Nevin on co comms.

Any aspiring pundit should be made to listen to a couple of hundred hours of Nevins archive so that they know what is required. He’s the best, no surprise that he was a huge admirer of Jimmy Armfield, who was always excellent and is much missed.
There are some decent younger ones, Paul Robinson and Nedum Onuoha for instance.

Onuoha impressed me a couple of years ago when he mentioned that as a player he always made sure he tidied his area in the changing rooms after playing or training. He explained that it wasn’t the cleaners job to pick up after him, and he made sure he threw all rubbish in the bin or put stuff in his locker if it could be used again. I thought when I heard it that Dean Smith would have liked him.

He is well fu**ed now :man_facepalming:

Not sure I agree with that. Seeing the extended highlights on iFollow the Newport player was in front of Hutchinson and moved as if to receive a short throw in to which Hutchinson followed him. He the peeled away which Hutchinson actually tracked him initially before then watching where the ball had been thrown and losing him by a yard or two.

Agree that it looks poor on Evans part and he probably should have done better, wasn’t as if it was a bullet header at pace.

A poor goal all round really given it looks like Clarke wins the initial header despite being marked by two players.

Yeah I agree having seen it again. In my minds eye initially I thought he’d run from behind.

As you say he watched the ball and get his back turned to the player and it was too later to respond.

Well worked but poor defending.

It’s simple oteh

Win the game and you are heroes

Lose pathetically at home and your going to get dogs

If you don’t like it earn a living some other way

Not disagreeing, just to add the sun was in his eyes which cant have helped.

A striker’s job is to score goals.
A defence need to be ‘tight knit’ enough to defend, including set pieces and long throws.
Wingbacks need to provide assists.
Set piece takers need to put it on a sixpence.

100% effort is also required.

Everyone can have a bad day at the office, but if you have two or three in a row, you are on borrowed time.

The moment the fans turn on a player or a manager, it won’t end well.

I agree that we should stick together but Oteh’s comments aren’t helpful, just as the pitch announcer’s rallying call was ill advised. Walsall supporters are not glory hunters and never shall they be.

I think what fans want is not to be mugged off. Talk common sense and respond positively to criticism and we all then know where we are. Say tripe like ‘That’s not like us’ and expect raised eyebrows and incredulous reactions.

It’s not that complicated, really, is it?

So the annual player/fan blame apportionment game has started. The good news is its about a week later this year which is pretty consistent with BBs incremental improvement strategy.

They’ve had great support home and away considering the trash They’ve served up for most of the season again.

I think it was, but that’s what caps are for.

Why is DD playing left centre back along side Jordan, Saturday one of the goals was scored because first Jordan let the player go and second Daniels tried to head the ball and missed allowing the ball to get in the box. For me DD his a centre half and should be that nothing else.

Sadler thinks hes John Stones

wouldnt a decent or even an under 8’s GK either 1 wear a cap if his view was restricted by the big yellow thing in the sky or 2 not come charging out like a bull in a china shop when he has restricted views and having to squint.

Not to worry though after his 3 game suspension he will be back between the sticks because " he is the best GK in league 2 "

The main worry for me was not the performance , not the tactical unawareness, nor the absence of a game plan A B or C , the main concern for me is how some of the players just seemed to accept conceding goals as the norm and jogged back to the halfway line

This club has accepted failure and defeat ‘as the norm’ for far too long.
It’s blatently obvious that Trivela don’t have the ‘balls’ to act. Sadler should have been axed the next morning, no if’s, no buts, clubs throughout the EFL have acted swiftly when disastrous performances have convinced decent Chairmen that change must be made if things are to improve.
We at Walsall come up with claptrap comments about ‘incremental progress’, ‘on a learning curve’ etc etc ad-nauseum…our Manager is not good enough, we have some half decent players out there but the team play every match as if they have never met before, we are easy to beat, as someone else pointed out above constantly ‘out thought’, out fought and ‘out played’. Trivela have to realise that fans WONT be happy at our team once again finishing 16th or 17th in the 4th Division.

Can you give some examples of clubs that sack their manager that have a similar record to Sadler that then go on to have success, and examples of those that do it then don’t have success?
I’m intrigued to know.

Its best not to question him because he cannot give you an answer!
