No way were we just chasing shadows.
We had possession but gave it away too cheaply, didn’t maximise our chances and had a weak mentality, giving a lackadaisical referee the opportunity to get his name in the frame.
We need an attitude.
That would have been when they were picking the ball out of the back of the net.
Because of his development he is my pos.
Good call.
Sadler and his team are miles off being promotion potential.
Let’s not continue to kid ourselves.
I once saw a hedge
Funnily enough, against Donny, a good first half - when we could have been two or three up but went one down - was followed by a less effective second half that left us pointless. Better finishing with a bit of luck and we could have had to here points. Today, it was the other way round with a better second half, but the same result: no points.
WE NEED A DECENT STRIKER WHO CAN PUT THE BLOODY BALL IN THE NET.
Er, could that be a certain Danny Johnson?
Answers on a postcard and no swearing, please.
I’m sure that there was a pre Notts County video from the club on YouTube where Sadler said that, “Rem had trained well all week and was chomping at the bit to be involved.”
Like I said last time we lost, “Give the shirt to someone else and if they earn the right to keep it, it’s called competition for places.”
I know that there are only so many subs but I do wonder why we need so many high wage earners on the bench when Sadler has no intention of playing them (I think I might have answered my own question, but for me, that’s weak management)…
What level are Leahy and Kinsella playing at these days?
DJT…great potential.
Stirk and Tierney mmmmm
UTS
You make a very valid point. all season Sadler has managed with a reactive style of management.at time’s particular in the last few months when a more proactive style was called for .I fear he’s does not have this in him .i know he’s in his first season as a manager .i think a good start will be the retain list when season ends .will show us a bit more about him as a manager hopefully.there I go again that word I hate it .
I would argue that in the first half we didn’t press as a unit. This was illustrated by 16 Bostock (CDM) getting the ball in space and dicatating the pace and tempo of the game. No-one around me could understand why after 20 minutes no-one from the midfield was detailed to prevent him getting the ball and turning.
The key points in pressing are ‘where, when and who’.
In the 2nd half initially the team pressed as a unit which was better. I saw Faal telling the attacking unit to press high up the pitch. But,in one instant Tierney didn’t press Bostock so they got out of the press easily and counter-attacked.
Once we went to 10 men it became difficult to maintain the press but my mate and I thought Walsall should have gone to a back four and put an extra player in midfield. As the 2 were getting outnumbered by 3. Tbf that did happen although it was 1-3 and the game was over.
The full match replay is now available on the club site, but unfortunately we cannot see where Josh Gordon was when Taylor Allen made the pass to him.
He is in an offside position as the camera pans round, and he receives the ball - but we cannot tell where he was when it was played. Both home and away commentators, who would have been just about in line with Gordon, say it was a close decision.
EDIT - A few minutes later, the home commentators say that Tom Heslop from the Walsall Media team has a still picture that shows that Gordon was in fact on-side.

Ridiculous the amount of chances we’ve missed lately
Gordon at Forest Green
Hutchinson at Forest Green
Tierney at Colchester
Faal at MK x2
Faal at Barrow
Hutchinson at Tranmere
Corner after 2 minutes at Doncaster
Something we need to improve massively over the summer
Denial it is then.
They didn’t also win 3-1 though, while Newcastle completely lost their heads like we did
Except Johnson has better goals per minutes than Matt this season, despite only being given the fag end of games.
That’s madness - he has proved he is a very accomplished left sided CB and looks one of the strongest members of the team now .
Who is the Southgate of League 2?
Not good enough.
I’m not saying Matt has been ineffective - but DJ hasn’t had a look in. Can’t say he’s had a fair crack of the whip. But Matt’s been better than expected.
But when Matt aint at 100% he’s a passenger
