L 3-1 vs Notts County (H) - League Two - Sat 13th April, 3pm

I’ve seen all manner of signings, from journeymen whose legs have gone, foreigners who you’d never heard of and struggled to find any information on, to the signing of Makris for our record fee. Amongst all of that, the signing of Johnson has to be the most bizarre of them all.

OK in Infant schools, I suppose, but a bit embarrassing for an adult I think.

Really do have concerns that we will offer Flashless and DJT contracts for next season.

Good point. Think it would be a good idea to give him some game time to allow him to put himself in the shop window. It’s not dissimilar to last season with Wilkinson and Ladabie, were a good chunk of our playing budget wasn’t on the pitch. Last thing we or he needs is to spend next season bench warming.

Are you for real? :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Relegated to below our historic level, 5 soon to be 6 years on, crowds increase dispute regular price increases, fans keep money in the club despite a global pandemic, one of the better away followings in the division, message boards and social media with fans doing mental gymnastics to defend anything the club says or does and shit performances, clapping them off after being completely outplayed.

Absolute bollocks. Complete and utter nonsense. We have an incredibly patient fanbase.

Don’t worry, they can create a playlist of commentary of Josh Gordon’s goals for you

You’d have to loop it.

Totally agree with that post.

On social media there is a circle of vultures just waiting for someone to post anything remotely negative before they move in. If no one is about then they leave bait like “Here come the moaners”

The stuff that went on during the pandemic like leaving season ticket money in the club, twice infact, the end of one season, then people went out and bought season tickets for the next season not knowing if they would see a ball kicked (they didn’t) and still left the lot in, putting the club before their own uncertain futures. That shit should be remembered forever.

I think some people block stuff out, I think I do. Who wants to remember the past 5 years? If you really sat down and thought back at what a steaming pile of shit it has been. Last season massive price hike, a manager that virtually no one wanted, and season ticket sales went up

We ain’t perfect, Walsall fans have always liked a good moan, but it is easy to confuse a lack of patience with frustration.

What? Saying we are impatient was a compliment to us. You just interpret me wrongly.
I get what you mean when we you say we are patient an ee certainly have been. Above and beyond
My point was that due to the improvement in league position (not necessarily entertainment value) that come October next season I believe our streak of patience will have run it’s course and Sadler won’t survive a mediocre start.

I think he will survive it because Trivela will ignore the noise. I guess it depends how bad a start we are talking about though. Some people seem to think it is a natural progression for us to be right up there next season, but when you assess what we have signed up for next season, there is a lot to be done.

At some point the noise becomes too loud to ignore.

Key thing for me is that he doesn’t fit the team/style which was obvious at Doncaster. The signing if the contract detal is correct and we have all suspected it is wierd to say the least. Sadler has proved that ultimately the current way of playing is his 1st choice so is very unlikely to change it to accommodate him, therefore there is only one logical outcome. However, it is pointless the club demanding a substantial if any fee as for the last season and a half DJ has been a benchwarmer in the East and West Midlands.
Gordon will not be the answer and I read on here that someone challenged Boycott in The Locker yesterday who referred to his 16 goal season at Barrow, this made me wonder…is there an agreement for Gordon to be signed in the summer given how much he has played over our own contracted players…I guess we will find out in the next few weeks.

In what world is that a compliment? Just doesn’t make sense. Maybe I “interpret you wrong” because it doesn’t make literal sense.

We’re extremely patient, and people are already making excuses for Sadler in advance of next season :man_shrugging: I can totally see that being the case if we do have another shit start.

One hundred percent correct.

I thought that was a joke about Boycott saying that. There is a lot that could be said but I won’t bother, just to say I am more concerned about what he does for Walsall.

Someone should have pointed out to him that JG probably had a better team around him to allow him to score the goals

Since Sadler picks Gordon in the starting eleven every match, it would be very surprising if he did not want him next season.

He still has another year left on his contract with Burton, which means there would presumably be a transfer fee involved, so whether he is here next season will depend on how the negotiations with Burton go.

Perhaps Richard O’Kelly’s opinion on Gordon’s value will be a factor in how much the club is prepared to offer for him.

DJT is not getting much action and that suggests he not likely to be retained.

I know we say it at the end of every season but this summer has got to be the most important transfer window we have had to face since our relagation, in my view.

I dont go with the we only need 6 or 7 players. Potentially, of our 6 strikers, all 6 could be out the door. With that said i would like to see Matt and Faal stay. But that still means we need 3 or 4 more strikers to come in. I assume that DJ, DJT, Oteh and Gordon will not be here at the start of next season.

Whilst midfield seems to have the numbers when we have everyone fit, for me the balance/mix is all wrong. Hutch is already gone. Riley needs to restart his career elsewhere, and Tierney isnt our player but goes missing too often in the games I have seen him play. He is not one I would.wiah to see us sign. That gives us Earing, Comley, Stirk, Osin, Jellis and RAM. Jellis is still an unknown. RAM would be expecting too much of him for a full season next year, and we dont know if Sadler rates him. Comley, fine as the CDM. Stirk I think has gone backwards since the first half of the season. Osin, still debating what is his best position. But there is still a major lack of experienced creativity there. A lot of work to do here.

The only area that does look stocked is the CB positions, ans assumes Allen will stay. DD certainly isnt the same player he was earlier in the season, but then we dont know if he is still fully fit. Signs are he isnt at the moment. We all know Rolin will be off.

The wingbacks are still a concern. Is Knowles best suited here, and there is a concern for me with the quality of the strenght in depth. Weir, whilst an unknown, reports from over the Irish Sea are that whilst he is good going forward, he struggles defensively in that wingback role. He could be exposed even more at this level. Time will tell. Gordon jas had a very good season overall.

Golakeeper positions are a worry. Not sure where we stand with Jackson Smith contract wise. I assume that we have 1 year option in our favour. As it stands he should be our No.1 for next season. However, Evans will clearly leave and seek pastures new and I wish him well. So that leaves us with another goal keeping spot to fill.

So we potentiall need 5 strikers/CF’s, 3 to 4 midfielders, at least another LWB and RWB and a keeper. Hopefully RoK will help Saldler formulate a better playing style next season and make us stronger because too many times this season we have got it completely wrong. Let’s wait and see.

You think we need to add 4 more midfielders?

We currently got the following signed for next season.

Hutch
Earing
Jellis
Comley
Stirk
Maher
McEntee
Parker

Not quite sure how squeeze another 4 players in that midfield.

I’d say two midfielders, one of them being a replacement if Hutchinson leaves and someone with abit of quality/experience
