I think he was asked by Sadler to play a different roll today, and i think he stuck to it well, but his own game suffered
The side isnât set up to play to DJs strengths in cases like today. We were a lot more passive, barely really broke, and didnât get any quality into the box.
I want to see a more aggressive and front foot performance against Accrington.
We seem to shit it when we play a decent side away for some reason we allowed them far too much time and space to play today same last week against Southampton i know they are a different level but still i did say it last week .
Thatâs another shade of Southgate. On the road he seems to obsess about the opposition. By the sounds of it we dropped ten yards today versus what we did against Crewe, Wrexham and Grimsby.
Whether itâs going to bottom of the league Sutton with a view to âweathering the stormâ or top of the league Stockport where we pay far too much respect you feel like away from home he just doesnât fancy us.
Even in the games weâve won away, weâve had to come from behind. You more or less want him to go into away games as though weâre already a goal down so that whatever plan A looked like, needs at the very least a tinker so that we give ourselves a chance of getting onto the front foot and scoring.
Jamma sat next to me at the game today. Spoke to him and asked him how long is he out for. He said heâs hoping to back next week, if not the week after. Nice guy
Sadler is such a drone.
Switched off after about 8 seconds.
Imagine listening to him before a game.
Anyway, as others have said, spends too much time worrying about the opposition rather than taking the game to them.
You can see why we always start slowly and also concede a LOT of possession.
Love managers who say after a defeat it was just a few moments ,on another day , put it behind us ,scoring goals winning games are vital moments .Gordon miss eg.and I donât mean slagging players off .just a bit more reality .when we lose a game .
Mat describes us as a âvery good side at this levelâ, I thought today was a bit of a reality check. I think weâre a good side at this level and Stockport are a very good side and the key moments Stockport won, it shows we still have some way to go to really mix it consistently with the big boys of the division. We didnât play badly but they just had a bit more than us and the longer it went on the more I thought it likely we would lose.
Still our performance overall was decent and weâve now got some very winnable games coming up, all is not lost. I think the debrief tomorrow despite the defeat will be upbeat.
Ill keep saying it, we look quality if we score first. I dont know what the stats are i cant be arsed to look now but if we score first we wont lose.
too many sloppy goals away from home.
Iâm sure itâs only Crewe where we scored first away.
We go out on the back foot.
Thereâs no need. Weâve got some good forward players.
Very passive away against the better teams not sure why we need to do that this team has shown it can beat them recently.
I made a very confusing table on my phone but yes rarely do we score first away. This is in all competitions. Apologies if any errors
I was just going to say, Stockport have spent a bit but ultimately they will go up automatically and possibly as champions.
Thatâs the yardstick for next season or the one after that. Or the one after thatâŚ
Does feel a bit optimistic to think this club would ever have enough in the budget to have a striker of Paddy Maddenâs quality on the bench. Or someone like Nick Powell sitting alongside him.
Louie Barry been great for them and he wasnât involved, was on this clubâs doorstep for a couple of seasons. Odin Bailey another who was at Blues for years then played for Forest Green and seems Stockport picked him up from Salford.
If the club wants to ever get automatic promotion in the future thatâs the sort of forward options that need to be assembled but doesnât feel realistic.
Still the main target needs to be winning the next two home games and then the table will start to look very promising.
Must say Iâm feeling very upbeat this evening
Apparently clubs now loving sending their young players away from home.
Has to be said though we must have a poor standing with these clubs. Harvey Griffiths 45 min loan deal must not go down well either. Even if he was crap. So much in these clubs academies we could tap into.
We have been in for Bailey and Barry in the past and turned down, apparently.
Yes Barry by all accounts was the Matt Taylor summer and Fullerton didnât want him which summed up his dreadful tenure.
He had a difficult loan at Ipswich but then got going again at Swindon and Salford and think Stockport will sign him permanently if they go up for 1m or so.
Fullarton didnât want Cameron Archer either that i know for certain what a helmet that bloke was.
Agree with those comments above that we were passive today - where was the front foot stuff?
For the first goal why do we never block any shots from outside the box; just throw a lazy leg into the air from 10 yards away. It is something we have not done all season. This I think was overlooked because we got back into the game so quickly but it is a piece of basic defending that we do not bother doing. Daniels was a bit hit and miss today and there is definitely a mistake or two in him.
UP THE SADDLERS.
