L 3-2 vs Bradford City (H) - League Two - Sat 20th April, 3pm

At 2-1 they were pulling shirts and getting away with it for the equaliser we never laid a glove on them

Don’t care, i know who i would want with the ball 8 yrds.

15-20 goals by dj gets us in the play offs

Or three, as was the case with Faal.

Him not playing wasn’t the reason we lost, which was the inference of my reply.
2-0 up and well on top. The team was playing well.
I like DJ but I’m not in the we’d have won the league by now if he’d played more, as some clearly are. Faal is a real prospect and I really hope we can sign him. Not fussed about keeping DJ tbh.
Defending today cost us.

Could or should the manager have changed it at the back when there were weaknesses being exploited by Bradford?

No I replied to exactly the words you said, which judging by the events of the game, particularly second half, wasn’t fair.

It’s just hypothetical. He scored a good goal the other night, but it was probably the first chance that fell to him 8 yards out this calendar year.

Still feeling a bit raw but here goes.

This season has certainly seen progress - but after the last few dismal seasons that really is clutching at straws.
I do not see this season as some heroic crusade at trying to make the playoffs. For me we have thrown away a tremendous opportunity that few of us at the start of the season thought would present itself.
3 homes games in a week vs teams below us in the table and we win one, lose 2 and concede 7.
How Cook was allowed to score the first goal without any central defender in sight shows how at times zonal marking is an accident waiting to happen. The same thing happens again for their second goal. Why did Daniels not have a talk and decide that Cook was the danger man and mark him for crosses. If someone marks Cook we might have won.
You would have thought that we were Brazil from 1970 listening to the two commentators on i follow who regardless of what was happening in front of them seemed to be completely oblivious to the danger Bradford were posing.
I don’t totally buy into the thought that with a few small adjustments we will improve for next year. A few players will undoubtedly leave in the summer - maybe one or two of the good ones. So we may need to sign 4 or 5 decent players to get us to the level where we want to be.
UP THE SADDLERS

That’s fine.

Tough for that to happen when you’re on the bench most the season! :joy::joy::joy:

Powder puff performance from our centre backs. Sadler 100% got the substitutions all mixed up Faal should have played alongside DJ from start of 2nd half. Farq shud have been on for Dave at half time. Tierney created some attacking urgency when he came on but Sadler just seems to think of you throw on half a dozen strikers you will get the goals … he is tactically inept and not improved all season. Don’t buy this “it’s his first season, back him up” bollocks, his has no idea how to adopt a plan B, does not know how to change a game with subs and talks utter crap after each and every match … “lots and lots of good things today” no points… “ just needed to be more clinical” no points … “there a very, very good side with a very, very good manager” no points … and on, and on. The play offs should have been nailed on before today but to take 3pts from 9 at home gets you what you deserve.

Devastating. Created more than enough chances to win, scored enough to win.

Just so stupid to lose it like we have. A couple of set pieces and a good cross and we fell apart. Need to see them back to understand what happened. How Foulkes ended up marking Cook is beyond me.

Anyone see what set off the steward that was offering people out?

Oh do behave, you have to be on the pitch for the ball to fall to you.

I agree, but he’s had more than a few minutes when he’s been available.

That’s what he meant, the technical areas. Shocking for DJ not to be alive to those situations.

Sadler has some big defensive headaches to solve for next season, what we have isn’t working. Nowhere near enough clean sheets to be serious contenders. Sad indictment on the team that at 2-0 up we not only don’t win but manage to lose. Sadler needs to get busy on resolving this over the summer.

Agreed

Well thats it folks minus a miracle our season is done. I think a mixture of inexperience and us being toothless in the final third has ultimately cost us. Lessons to learned from Sadler but overall i think hes done a decent job and fully deserves another season in charge.

Trivela have done great work behind the scenes made some great strides to help us become successful on and off the pitch. Hopefully this will spill over to the summer recruitment.

Overall I’m positve about next season given the foundations we already have.

Gutted. We really have blown it in the last few weeks. If we really need 10 or 12 attempts per goal, that’s poor. Oh, bollocks. Gutted.

Yeah, but getting the ball drop to you 8 yards out is rare! Might happen once a game if you’re lucky! It doesn’t ever seem to happen to Josh Gordon.

So when you’re getting 20 mins if you’re lucky, it’s going to be even rarer, and when it did he spanked it into the top corner
