L 3-2 vs Shrewsbury Town (A) - BSM Trophy Group Stage - Tue 14th Nov, 7pm

Missed chances again but our set pieces are truly shocking

That’s embarrassing to say the least.

Disappointing result but Sadler will be absolutely delighted with the performance, we had them on the ropes for most of that 2nd half without landing the knockout blows.

If he played more regularly he’d have scored.

Maybe

It was a much better performance than against Harrogate to be fair.

We’m still shit.

Defensively we just leak goals, and we’re so weak in the midfield we just gave up on it last 30 minutes and played without one.

Meh.

Night all :+1:

Being the better team every game , missing all your chances , conceding like crazy then losing
Sadler will be delighted if this is the way we get relegated

Spot on mate almost every game you don’t have to be a good side to score against we .

Its all about the performance though…

Enjoyed watching the game but it had a friendly type of feeling about it.
Another 3 conceded though is a big concern.

We did well tonight against the shrews academy

Obvious it was a nothing game even if we’d won, but at least some lesser favoured players have had a run out, even though at the end we were playing shots in against Shrewsbury’s youth team.

Agreed mate. My concern is that a culture of failure has set in. DJ would have scored a lot more if he played more regularly but then again if he played more regularly he would have been rested tonight…need to find a way to get his confidence back…play him more often is my suggestion and many others too

When was the last time we had a player that could either get header ( with any power) on target in the opposition’s penalty box or actually take a free kick?

Well, they don’t sin with goals, but scored one more. I still think the root of the problem lies in defence. If only we had a central defender who will replace injured or retired ones. Anyway, the game was ok except for that part. And please, take Knowles from set pieces please. I don;t think that is his forte.

Don’t call them Shrewsbury’s youth team.

DJ missed a hatful against higher league opposition where we all know the goals are smaller and the penalty spot further out.

Totally dominant in the second half but didn’t convert our chances. Good performances from several players but our failure to convert chances let us down . Over 20 shots again ! Maher looked good on the left in the second half and gives us another option . Griffiths used the ball well and was much better than against FGR.
Pity DJ missed the penalty and several other good chances but he should player if Draper cannot.

But he was playing against actual footballers that could run around.

Do you remember how poor Sheppey were? They moved in slow motion.

Get Matt and DJ in the box and feed them with crosses.

It’s league two…

Alfreton Town are there for the taking and will bring in much needed revenue.

We need some quality crosses from an attacking full back.

Get Farquarson back fit and we start to look half decent.

Too many passengers in the squad right now though…
