L 4-2 vs Wrexham (A) - League Two, Tue 15th August, 7:45pm

You’re making no sense whatsoever.

But he’s not? Goalkeepers leave their line all the time? Players in general move around the pitch all the time, for different reasons. Their not table football players, rigidly sticking to a set formation beforehand. You still have to actually move.

There’s no reason for him to think Hussey is going to head that ball straight to their striker.

Evans is only ‘out of position’ because he is coming to collect the ball.
Hussey then heads it to Palmer and it’s 2-0.

Interesting take…

The amount of times we headed the ball to their feet last night, instead of out of play was criminal.

It’s the basics.

He’s in position to collect the ball because he clearly called for it. He’s not out of position. The only reason be became out of position was because of Hussey fudged up.

1,146 Saddlers there last night - and we only had an allocation of 1,115.

I wonder why we can’t have a sensible discussion about that second goal? Only two people know the truth of the situation - Evans and Hussey. As far as I know, neither has come out and said what happened so, at this stage, we have no idea where “fault” lies. If Evans came out clearly and confidently with a decisive shout of “leave it”, then Hussey has made a mistake. Alternatively, if he didn’t make that clear shout, he has made a mistake. Perhaps, in the general noise, Hussey has heard the shout late or only half heard it and instinctively still gone for the ball but in a more half-hearted manner rather than decisively, hence why he’s looped it back to the striker? All questions we don’t know the answers to and therefore it is impossible to say where the blame lies. Thing is that, whatever the situation, these sorts of things happen from time to time at league two level and it’s just unfortunate that it happened when it did and where it did and also unfortunate that the striker managed to connect with the perfect strike to put it into the net, which probably only happens a couple of times out of ten.

Having read the police instructions to your coach a few days ago, wasn’t it them that told you to go to Whitchurch for 6.30, to be escorted in to Wrexham?

Hardly resonates with refused entry to all pubs in Wales  so “turned back” to England and the first town was Whitchurch story.

It’s happened, just there :+1:

That’s why it felt very unfair to see criticism on Evans. There are a lot of factors and maybes about it all. I do feel that Hussey has to do better whether that is he’s not had a call or he’s had a late call even. He’s the experience at the back and even if he’s got a late call I’d want him to be more commanding with his header really, but as you say it’s League 2 and he’s with us so unless he makes consistent errors he should be forgiven.

Hussey should have left the ball.It was going out.Bad judgement. The main culprit for at least 5 of the goals against is Foulkes. Not ready for league football.

I mentioned above but we shouldn’t be too critical of Foulkes, as you’ve alluded to he’s very early on in his league football journey but I also imagine that having him and Williams together in a run of games was never the plan and then them both covering the right side is going to mean they get targeted. I actually think both will be fine longer term but having to put them in together at this level is a lot of pressure on them and ideally one would have experience to help guide the other. You then look at our midfield who could help them out and you have inexperience there too. Daniels and Hussey are having to do an awful lot of the carrying when it comes to helping the youngsters through games currently.

Maybe that’s why some Wrexham fans seem to rate Foulkes…

Their number 12 was class.

Thought he was good too. Joe Foulkes, he’s only 20 and from their youth team. They loaned to Kiddy last year. Him and the number 39 Johnson looked like their best players but I thought as a team they were the poorest of the three teams we’ve played so far in this league.

Walsall’s No12 was very good. Once he tired it allowed Mendy to switch from defence to offence (for our American fans) and help control the game.

Whether there was call, and if so whether he heard it or not are immaterial. Hussey decided to deal with it and made a right mess of doing so

As I explained, he may have been committed to dealing with it, then heard a late shout and, as happens, got caught in two minds. We simply don’t know, therefore we can’t state where fault lies.

If you skip to 0:23 - Highlights you can hear Evans shout Keepers.

Yeah you can, if Hussey has decided to deal with it, that’s what he should be doing anyway regardless. Not powder puff heading it too their centre forward.

Never mind the fact that from both of their reactions he certainly looked to accept responsibility.

First rule of Keeping is communication, the first rule of defending is if in doubt put it out. One seems to have done his part the other definitely didn’t.

I think one thing we can all agree on is we are only minor tweaks away from being a competitive team in this league, with the experience of Waddock im sure Sadler will get it right sooner rather than later.

Do we need a new CM i dont think we do i think Stirk as the abilty to play further up in the 8 role or Tierney allowing Riley or Comley when fit to slot in the DM role. I tend to agree with the criticism of McEntee he looks every bit of a defender playing a CM role but hes not been poor at the same time.

Defensively we have need to cut out the silly mistakes maybe something we will improve on as relationships start to form across the back line also we will have Farquharson back soon hopefully he will offer some composure once fit.

Attacking for once in i dont know how long seems to be a strong point chuck Knowles in on the right and we will be a danger on both flanks.

Just cant get my head around the massive meltdown after a defeat especially after 3 games with 2 of those games being against teams with the top 2 budgets in league. I understand this is a forum and everyone is entitled to there opinion but some of the garbage in the match thread yesterday was crazy.

As people have said on Twitter, Hutchinson’s dad could become the male version of Morris’ mum :joy:
