If only😁
I’m not surprised by the pre season optimism because I think Taylor is very impressive.
But as I stated elsewhere, I think we’ll do very well to finish top half. Which side of half way probably depends upon the fitness of Rory Holden. Remember, last season our form minus Rory was 24th in the league by some considerable distance. In terms of the rest of the squad, you hope that we have upgraded but it is wafer thin. You look at yesterday’s bench and that lack of depth is hugely apparent. Also reading about the goals from yesterday and the feedback from their previous clubs’ fans and there is a huge “jury out” on whether our new centre back pairing are an upgrade on Scarr and Clarke. If they are as cumbersome and slow as some would have us believe then we are in for a wobbly time. Hopefully Rushworth is an upgrade on Roberts.
I get that if you can’t be optimistic a few days before the start of the season then when can you? But we’re trying to turn a whole organisation around here. Six years of mismanagement and an endemic losing mentality. 12th would represent a corner turned. I think looking for better than that from right here, right now is supremely optimistic.
For me, the top seven will consist of Bradford, Salford, Tranmere, Bristol Rovers, Vale (eurggh!), Newport and Mansfield. Harrogate and Barrow to go down.
Walsall - 13th.

Tbf mate we’ve been using the turning the club around line for 3 years now
You’re right.
I was happy when Keates was appointed (heart ruling head) and even happier when Clarke came. I have even more confidence in the new set up (mainly driven by the fact it appears to be part of a structured plan) but the club is stuck in a horrible downward trajectory that it will be a good job to halt, a great job to reverse and a miracle to reverse to the pint of challenging for promotion.
It’s sport and miracles do happen. I’ll be at our first half dozen or so games home and away hoping to witness the beginning of one. But I won’t be gutted if all I see is progress from a pretty low benchmark.
Agree , but the right appointment and a little investment will see that corner turned. After all it’s only league 2, I think we forget that there’s some absolute garbage in this league.
I can see both sides of this argument and just don’t know which way to go. Aside from being confident we’ll improve on last season, both in points and entertainment value, I think anything could happen. If you had to pin me down , I’d 8th to 10th, but I wouldn’t be totally shocked if we ran away with it. New personnel, new structure; it could bed in quickly, or take a season to do so. But I think if we give Taylor and Fullarton time, they will deliver.
Morecambe went up last season without spending and finishing 22nd the season before. There is absolutely no reason why can’t finish in the top7. Mansfield spend and end up useless every season
Yow’ve put your predictions upside down mate!
If Salford get relegated the world really will end early!
Have Swindon and Oldham ever been non league clubs Hull? I can’t remember them being in my lifetime Oldham were in the Prem 92-93 season if memory serves me correctly
The gift that keeps on giving mate a let down almost every season I’m hoping Port Vale go down a similar path I have no idea why I feel this of course
Oldham… Revenge for our fixture there always seeming to be on a Tuesday night! I don’t actually want them to go down (even with the tea-time traffic on the M62) but I thought I’d go a bit random in my prediction.
Wouldn’t dare to question your selections mate just wondered if they had been non league sides it’s the kind of pointless knowledge I strive to remember you never know when you’ll need it.
I’d be very surprised if they had but as everyone presumably knows… Oldham played their first game in the Manchester Alliance League versus Berry’s Blacking Works Second XI in 1899. Played on a Tuesday night in November before the invention of floodlights probably.
It could come up in a pub quiz.
