Not that many, most of them have been frustrating draws. Cheltenham away wasn’t really a must win but the collapse in injury time was a bigger mental drain than we thought at the time given not one game has been won since.
Not beating a very average Gillingham side home or away within a few weeks of both fixtures was also very disappointing.
At least the draws with Donny and Wimbledon have kept them at arms length but the excuses have run out now, have to win tomorrow.
Imagine being a Walsall player “going into work” tomorrow. What’s infront of you is what you would have regarded as a routine day a few months ago. You know you’ve got what it takes, you’ve got about 7,000 people willing to turn up and roar you on to it, you’ve got the chance, whatever career path the summer takes you on, to be a hero remembered for generations in a community which you represent, to do something that will greatly enhance your hard earned career as a professional footballer, that could benefit you and your family hugely.
If there’s a group chat for Walsall FC staff, and Ben Sadler wants to borrow the above to post on it instead of asking supporters to do stuff…he’s more than welcome
It’s time to deliver a “Good Friday” feeling… cannot wait for this one, excitement rather than the dreaded fear that accompanied the game against “The Vile”. I am less fussed about the team selection as the reality is whoever crosses the white line in minute 1 or minute 89 (although suspect that will be DJ) I genuinely believe they will give their all. Looks like a healthy crowd in response to the ticket offer and the massive stakes! All my energy will be focussed on the positives until after the final whistle and will keep that going for the trip down to South Wales on Monday morning. We are due a better performance after the Barrow debacle, yes there will be a huge amount of pressure but a cauldron of home support against a small Harrogate following can be a huge advantage, so come on boys give us something to fire us up early and we have got this
My son was at Barrow with his father-in-law (Carlisle fan) & went with him today to brunton park. He was far more impressed with Carlisle than us last week.
He really enjoyed it when the Carlisle goalie saved an injury time penalty to deny Port Vale a point!
Sad that yet again we didn’t take advantage!
I really hope we do. And if we do, I really hope I don’t hear the “We’re top of the league” song, it was cringe for months while it was slipping away slowly.
3rd place on goal difference at the end of the final game would do me, as it always would have. As unlikely as it seems right now.
I really don’t care if we go up in 3rd automatically now as long as we go up , but it is such a let down when we really should of gone up as champions from the position we were in.
