There actually a formula where promotion would be as good as guaranteed even before kick off v Accy.
Beat Newport (yes I know…) and Bradford lose at Chesterfield which is possible with Chesterfield just being outside top 7 so plenty for them to play for.
Bradford then lose at Donny and they could then only finish on maximum of 77 points so point v Accy and then they’d need to be a reasonable swing of GD on final day e.g. at least five goals if there are one goal margins in those three games.
How sad it’s got to a point where even four points from Newport away and Accy at home is seen as some mini miracle achievement.
Notts County in the mix but they have Donny final day and could only get to 78 points winning all three games.
The really sad part of this if we miss out on automatics is all our rivals can (if they do ) point to a difficult end of season game run in .and the will definitely enter the playoff phase with more confidence than we .
We’ve had things in our own hands so many times and thrown it away, the players and the club really need to take a good long hard look at themselves because this has been historic but for all the wrong reasons.
Shouldn’t be a surprise to us. If this league wasn’t totally wank then we’d have been out of the promotion picture ages ago. This has been coming, been very fortunate for weeks.
Grimsby in 7th with that goal. They’d be very difficult to play in the play offs.
Grant McCann was right then. He was getting a huge amount of abuse on here in January when he said not just autos but the title was still up for grabs. These results hold and Donny are top with two games left.
