League Two 24/25 - The Other 23

In one way a good result for us as Crewe may be completely out of it last day not needing anything but on the other hand it probably puts Grimsby or Colchester in to the playoffs and really don’t fancy faving either of those.

So that’s Crewe 1 win in 8, 3 defeats in a row, and now highly unlikely to be challenging for a play-off spot when we play them. Seriously, if we can’t get 3 wins against the 5 upcoming opponents I will be gutted and amazed in equal measure. We’ve looked some gift-horses in the mouth during this dismal run, but there’s another one yawning at us like an orgasmic hippo with this lot to play.

2-3 now

Final score

Not excusing our run in any way but Crewe’s season is similar to ours and proves what a strange unpredictable game it can be. When we played rhem at home it looked a real high quality (for lower leagues) game with both teams looking really decent on the day. We did well to get a point and it took a bit of Championship class from Hall with the pass and Lowe with the finish to get us one.
We have both been horrendous in 2025.

Just had this thought tonight… if we were bottom two and scrambling for safety, could we pick a better set of last 5 fixtures to help leg us up??

Walsall seem like a decent team to play at the moment.

From Sky tonight.

If you look at the fixtures the other teams have;

Doncaster and Bradford’s fixtures are horrible.

Then they play each other.

Notts County play Bradford and Doncaster.

Wimbledon play Doncaster and Vale

Surely, surely, we have the best chance?

Nice turn of phrase :joy:

We have the easiest path.

We only have to do a little better than one of the three teams around us, Bradford, Port Vale and Doncaster. Two of them could do great and win every game, and it wouldn’t matter as long as the other one does slight worse than us.

But our decline is almost identical to that of Crewe, who were second and 12 points behind us on 19th January. They are out of the play offs now, and 11 points behind us. They would have looked at the fixtures and thought that a home match against Cheltenham was a great chance to catch up on the teams ahead, but it is very hard when on a terrible run, to reverse the trend.

We are as good as Morecambe atm

How many of those would Morecombe win ?

Agreed, on paper we have easily the easiest run-in

Is Sadler capable of driving us forward if so needs to grab the gear stick and shift it our of reverse into a forward gear .before we crash.neutral parked up ain’t gone a do it .

i nearly dropped my bacon! Thats absolutely RIDICULOUS!

We just need to be better than 21 other teams, most of whom have no skin in the game. We better be, because I’m in the UK for the first playoff day and have no intention of going, and I’m going to miss the second and the final, due to being totally out of civilisation.

I have every faith in the lads.

We are about the least in-form team in the U.K.

Cant see us winning again with MS in charge

On paper most clubs would have jettisoned their manager by now

And we did with O’Driscoll for a better record

But our owners gave ours an extension which would make it a very expensive decision now. Especially with having lost the tiny amount of £1,7m

Happy times

Unfortunately, this is my thought process, we just ain`t winning are we.
:folded_hands: it changes tomorrow.

Back on topic.
Could do with Salford winning tonight to slow up Notts.
Hopefully keeping them both keen to keep their play off chances going, as they’ve both got to play Donny and Notts also have Bradford.

Different circumstances to O’Driscoll though.

He came in from outside when we were top 3, started to see cracks straight away distancing himself from the club and unsettling the players. Sadler managed this team to be top, so has surely earned some sort of time to see it through?
