Leicester City (H) - League Cup 3rd Round - Tue 24th September, 7:45pm

I assume Matt and DJ were 4 and 5 but that’s the issue with leaving the strikers late as sometimes penalty shoot outs don’t go that far.

In hindsight probably should’ve kept Adomah on as he has been a penalty taker throughout his career. Agree that Jellis should’ve taken one ahead of Okagbue.

It dosen’t matter now but it could potentially matter in May so there certainly needs to be more prep than seemingly put in tonight.

The Leicester fans don’t have a very good opinion of their goalkeeper but even they acknowledge that he kept them in the game and eventually won the tie for them.

It was horrific :joy:

Good performance that. Could & should have won it. Sh*te penalties.

Please can we get a penalties coach in & also other set pieces coach Mr Sadler

That Liam Gordon penalty was very Evran Wright esq :joy:

Good performance over 90 mins, thought we matched them at times, they were always going to see more of the ball but felt we carved out the better opportunities ironically.

No shame in losing to a Premier League team on penalties.

Harry William, MOM by a country mile.

Yeah that’s a strange line up even if that was the thinking.

Good performance can be proud should have put one away first half at least difference for me was Lakin good first half everything revolved around him .never got a kick second half .could’ve done with Hutch tonight might have swung it .

Liam Gordon took an excellent penalty in one of the earlier ties but I am baffled by the choice of big Dave! TA took a good one in a recent home game and I would have banked on him scoring. However it must have been a good performance. Well done lads.

How good is Harry? Whoever he plays against he more than holds his own fantastic.

No shame in losing that, especially on penalties.

The organisation that we’ve shown a few times against opposition from higher leagues is a million miles away from last season.

Huge progress over the summer and we could well be on for a season to remember!

Extremely proud of the players, held their own against Premier League players and could have quite easily won it.

Not to be in the end, but if we carry on these solid performances in the league, there will be plenty more success this season.

Up the Saddlers.

His development really is already becoming one of the highpoints of this season. It’s so pleasing to see us developing young talent - and it’s no doubt an essential part of Trivela’s business model.

I’ve seen enough. We really can compete with anyone in this league as long as we take the chances that come our way.

The organisation and shape in this formation is about as good as it gets right now, everyone knows their role on and off the ball, everyone working hard for one another. Going to be tough to beat all year. The work MS has put in is really showing.

Expectations growing every game and it remains to be seen how the lads will deal with that as the season goes on, but you can’t help be optimistic and anything but proud of the team tonight and so far this season. Onto Saturday, UTS

Ridiculous strength in depth at the back. Allen, Dave, Williams, Weir, Daniels, McEntee and hopefully Farq can stay fit for more than 10 minutes. If there’s a rare occasion they’re all available for a run of games it would be genuinely interesting which three Sadler would pick.

I wouldn’t have said this six weeks ago but the depth is good enough for top 7 in most positions now (would prefer neither of the WBs get injured).

Not sure there’s quite enough for top 3 but certainly should be expecting to be in the play offs for most of the season.

The impact Barrett has made reminds me of Demetriou in 15/16 who improved the team massively in the final third.

So proud of the lads tonight !
Deserved to win , have everything and should really have won except for a good save and Albert not realising the game was still playing
The lads deserve all the credit and it hurts that we lost when we did so well
Proud saddler

Fantastic performance and didn’t deserve to lose. Embarrassing for Leicester to have to rely on penalties to beat us.

Really hard to pick out any stand out performers, we were excellent all over the pitch.

Only critique would be that taking Lowe and Adomah off for DJ and Matt meant that we had to control midfield, which we didn’t as we grew tired and their greater fitness started to count. The result was we lost an element of our threat, but gained some nous to see out the 0-0. Hardly a criticism tho because Lowe and Albert were out on their feet.

Real shame we aren’t in the last 16 but we can focus fully on the league for the tough winter months.

Seemed like a great atmosphere at the ground tonight, from watching those highlights.
Great save from Lakin as it looked goalbound.
But what the hell was Liam Gordon doing?? If you know you must score to keep yourselves in the tie, you put your laces through it, surely?!?:man_facepalming:
