Mansfield Town (H) Tuesday 9th February, 6:45pm

Agreed it has not stopped snowing for about 6 hours now. This has landed on saturated ground. We had plenty of snow last weekend and many heavy periods of rain since so I am not surprised that the match is off.

Yeah add me in to the sceptical crowd aswell.

Pretty sure the conditions leading to the Carlisle and Oldham games earlier this month were far worse and those two got played so leads me to think it would’ve been a weak team today…No Ade or Jules and possibly some injuries so adds with DC being even more bitty than usual in his pre match chat leads me to think there wasn’t a huge amount done to stop the pitch being waterlogged.

As said though it will be interesting to see a few teams make up one of their spare games so you get a clearer picturer of what is needed to get in the top 7 and given a few are playing each other above it might look as hard as we think. Harder though selling two first team players first thing on Monday though.

It’s been bashing it down all night, weather here is absolutley gash.

We dont usually have problems with water logging but I’m really not arsed they’ve called it off. I suspect the forecast has also been taken into account as its pretty grim this afternoon.

Game would be on if we could sell tickets mind

Sad to think of all those hundreds of pies going to waste though…

They don’t have THAT many when they have a full crowed

Can’t see any mention of the Villa Women’s match tomorrow being off.

Presumably the less than 5% chance of precipitation overnight will improve things immeasurably.

I’m obviously very interested in that!

Not to mention playing in high heels.

 I paid for my iFollow registration to watch the game before noticing it was off
Presumably that will carry over to the re-arranged fixture.
Can someone confirm for me that that is the case?

I think it carried over last time it happened, if not then the club may provide a code for you if the EFL decide to be awkward.

Thanks, Rob. I presume I will be able to use the info they email to me to “cash in” my “subscription” whenever the re-arranged fixture takes place.
:grinning:

I was just going on the fact that my back gardens held up and I’m 3-4 miles away from the actual venue not having an opinion from 100 miles away so I think it’s a valid point I don’t put special seeds down or have a groundsman to look after it so was just a little bewildered.Don’t clubs usually post pictures on Twitter etc if it’s waterlogged it’s waterlogged I still think DC has made 100 or more trips from the changing rooms with a bucket filled with water each time but that’s just me that ok isn’t it mate surely?

The pitch at the Hawthorns doesn’t look waterlogged. Just saying…

Undersoil Heating
Better Drainage

In comparison, Solihull had their game postponed also which is probably a fairer comparison to our pitch I’d have thought.

and if there wasnt anything to moan about they would probably be moaning about the fact there’s nowt to moan about!!

I thought undersoil heating was for a frozen pitch? Maybe it also boils the water away?

Reminds me of a old women I use to know always told people to go and “boil their heads”

If the club’s website was the only source of information, we’d be none the wiser as to why the game has been postponed.
