Match day 18 man squad

Some tough choices now with the addition of Cleary and Lowe, which will only get more difficult when DJ, Daniels and Comley are fit.

Assuming the same starting 11 as last week, pick 7 subs from:

Hornby,
Okagbue, Williams, Wier,
Maher, Earing, Uncle Albert,
Cleary, Lowe

Wier out Maher also strong bench

Tbf that’s a strong looking bench at our level

They would all be starting for a lot of teams in the league

I don’t think you need Okagbue, Williams and Wier on the bench. I’d imagine that it could be Williams that gets the chop, seeing as Wier is left sided.

I think Maher will be the other one to be left out, providing there are no injuries.

I’d risk having no goalkeeper on the bench. And probably drop Williams.

Earing would be a starter for me providing his fit every day of the week

Just no ! Just imagine the reaction on here if Simpkin gets injured or sent off , Sadler would get crucified on here.

With seven subs, there has to be a keeper.

There’s 2 midweek games coming up and it’s a long season.

That’s exactly as I have it too

Before DD’s injury I heard a rumour Williams was going out on loan to get him match time following last seasons injury, if he’s not making the bench perhaps that’s still an option

Still time for Williams to go on loan. I expect at least one of McEntee, Allen or Gordon will be missing. Hornby, Okagbue, Earing, Adomah and the two new guys probably have to be there. I had genuinely hoped DJ would be but he won’t with Lowe and Cleary there.

One things for sure, the 2 new guys haven’t come to sit on the bench, it wouldn’t please their clubs

Plenty of game time to be had considering our strikers are dead on their feet after an hour.

I don’t think J.Gordon is fit so probably Lowe in for him.

Hornby
Maher
Okagbue
Adomah
Earing
Cleary
Weir

That’s a good point, no need to risk aggravating his hamstring now that we have two more forwards.

That is really hard, if you consider that is 9 and with the 3 mentioned above it to come in at some point, so eventually 7 from 12 would be a real headache (I know that it is very likely that we will rarely have all of those available at the same time, but still needs considering!).

From the 9 currently thought to be available, I’d leave Maher and Williams out, but bring them back in for the EFL trophy / cup games coming up, even if on the bench to come on at some point, or even to start, especially in the trophy, if Sadler wants to give them decent minutes.

That said, they could end up both out on loan before August is up!

Based upon recent seasons, we need to “budget” for three to six players being out at any one time.

The chances of all 24 players being available at any one time is remote.

Be a fantastic headache for Sadler to have, but unlikely.

There are nine fixtures before the end of September, every fit player will get game time and if we come through those games unscathed from injuries and suspensions it would be miraculous.

In answer to tomorrow’s dilemma, if Josh Gordon is fit, then for me it is Williams and Weir who miss out. A very attacking bench but Adomah gives us wide cover, Dave more defensive cover and the three centre halves can always become a two in case of a real emergency.

Williams and Maher miss out for me. Huge season for Maher to progress but I just can’t see where he’s going to get the minutes right now.

If Allen is a fitness doubt, Weir needs to be on the bench.

With a game on Tuesday (and Cleary cuptied), I wouldn’t risk Gordon today.
