Will part of our Trivela rebrand involve a name change. Walsall Doggers, anyone?

Walsall Bodgers a little more apt …

Sent this email earlier; will be interesting to see what response I get: -

Dear Morrisons,

You have scored a spectacular own goal with football fans at one of your Walsall stores.

The attached sign has appeared recently which will prevent around 50 or so cars from parking at the store and then walking the not inconsiderable distance to Bescot Stadium on matchdays. Given that there are always many, many dozens of unoccupied spaces on the car park even on the busiest days, this seems a complete folly on your behalf. Even when the space taken up by the new overpriced coffee shop is taken into account, you will never be so full as to prevent shoppers from parking.

Whilst I park on your site relatively infrequently, whenever I do I have also shopped in store and indeed on occasions used the café before a game too. I will no longer be able do so in future and based on comments on various Fan Forums I won’t be the only one. Given that, you have to ask yourselves what have you gained? No reduction in over-crowding, because there isn’t any, that’s for sure. Compare that to lost revenue about 25 times every year from dozens of people. Alongside this you will encounter a stream of complaints from shoppers who have been erroneously fined by the venal car park management company you have chosen. I’ve no doubt Euro Car Parks have you locked into a long-term deal and the chances of you being able to reverse this quite bonkers decision are slim. However, perhaps you should have thought about monetising parking in a rather more creative way e.g. free under 4 hours if spending £5 in store, or £3 if not. You have similar schemes at other stores that have much busier car parks.

Your comments awaited.

We done, I will stop spending in there as I attend each game. Stupid decision.

This thread made me wonder which is the worst ground for parking and access generally. Fulham is pretty bad but then so are many of the London clubs,

Some grounds have park and rides,

I know it’s a strange concept currently but on rare days trains are actually running then Tame Bridge Parkway is pretty good, just two minutes to Bescot of course.

Reading in the cup a few seasons back, finally found the shuttle bus round the back of the station and seemed to be about 10 miles outside of the town centre. Think there’s a station about to be opened half a mile away from the ground but that’s poor for public transport.

Shows how well the actual game went that I still made the 5.15pm train back to the Midlands!

Common consent generally amongst football fans is Selhurst Park is worst ground to get to and from but it does have a few train stations around it, just no tube line like the North london clubs.

I was going to say Crystal Palace, but after my recent journey would add Leyton Orient to that list.

 nutter, made me loff that has.I did notice that there were plenty of extra cars parked by the RAC last night after the game. Not sure if this was because they bought quite a few but there was a noticeable amount of parked cars either side of the road which generally never happens.

I know of several people who parked on the retail park without issue

You can no longer park in the streets immediately around the ground, but I had no problem finding somewhere just the other side of Leyton high street which is only a spit away.

My journey to the ground was also pretty problem free (although I admit that I did set off a bit earlier than usual to make sure I got there in time to find a parking space and have an hour or 2 in their fantastic supporters club bar). A bit closer o kick off and it can become a bit of a log jam (especially if there are other games or events taking place over that side of London).

However, I’m still going to agree with you about it being a sod of an away ground to go to as yesterday I got an £80 PCN for not paying the daily Ultra Low Emission Zone charge (£12.50) within the 3 day time limit. I was aware they had one in central London but it’s never been an issue in any of other of my trips to our games down there before now - apparently the week after we last visited Leyton they widened it to cover everything within the bounds of the North and South Circulars. Having checked, my wife’s car is exempt from the charge so I could have gone in that if I’d known. :unamused:

Forest Green had a park and ride and was fine going to ground but getting back took ages.

I recall spending over 90 minutes trying to get off Readings car park a few years ago.

Getting off the car park at Fellows Park was hazardous. I was with @Acuman in his old Mini years ago. He was distracted by a couple of sorts and rammed into the back of the vehicle in front. The front end of his car fell off as it was one peice of moulded fibre glass. Happy days.

We got down there just after 12 and parked near Leyton Midland Road station. Had seen signs coming talking about the ULEZ charge so checked online and saw it didn’t apply to us.
After game we went in the Gravity Well microbrewery for a pre journey drink which was just under the station and only about 20 metres from where we’d parked.

Yeah and the girls just looked at us and walked off, story of my life

I parked outside an industrial business near the ground as it looked closed being late Tuesday and hoped for the best

Ditto Sunderland.

As it was at Vale Park…chased by a posse of Clayheads, after an Alan Buckley masterclass, intent on kicking in the panels of my old banger.
