Just noticed that a load of Villa fans (Paul’s mates) have decided to jump in and call us weird for reacting to this.

Weird bunch

It’s wrong to go heavy on one individual, particularly at his relatively junior level. We all make mistakes and fair play to the lad, he has owned it. I just feel this is yet another example of the clubs collective incompetence. It’s so frustrating.

Just saw that

This is really embarrassing by the club. Absolutely pathetic and sums us up right now.
Fair play to him for apologising but we always get these apologies from different departments of the club yet they keep making the same old mistakes.
Let’s hope lessons really have been learnt, really really poor.

They’ll be back. They said records were finished years ago – although now called ‘vinyls’ (seriously?) – and that all bookshops would be closed by 2010. Progress is apparently over-rated.

Shambles keeps becoming a common word

The pride of the Midddllaannnddsss, the Suppeerrr Shamblesss!!! :joy::joy:

Place looks rocking, that taken on matchday?

Folks keep saying “lay off the lad, he’s apologised”.
No I won’t!
It’s not just an oversight, or an innocent mistake. This is OUR media team making a right pig’s ear of an important interview with the new Team Manager, when we should be setting an example to the guy of what we are about. God knows what Flynn’s family and friends thought of that episode!
No doubt he’s out with his Villa mates having a good laugh about it at our expense!
Employ folks who care about this club for a change!

The media from the club is either constantly careless and shoddy, or produced (and monitored prior to release) by people who genuinely don’t know any better. Yesterday is far from an isolated example.

A few weeks ago, the following social media post really rankled with me: “Matt Taylor has provided an update of midfielder Rory Holden confirming the midfielder will miss the rest of the season (sic)”

For a very short peice of prose, that’s shockingly bad: not a single, solitary punctuation mark to be found eg. between “Holden” and “confirming”, “of” instead of “on”, and use of “midfielder” as an adjective twice in very quick succession which, anyone putting written content out into the world really ought to know, is a major no-no.

Just while scrolling for 30 seconds to re-source the above quote, I found a second, even more recent example of the same, latter error:

“Conor Wilkinson’s penalty earns the Saddlers a hard-earned win at the Banks’s Stadium”

You don’t even need to buy a thesaurus. There are free ones online. It just smacks of hitting “post” immediately after typing, with zero care, pride, or professional diligence.

Don’t even start me on that turgid, unreadable font they arbitrarily decide to use for half a post, a couple of times a week, or a particular picture that found its way onto Twitter a few weeks ago. As has already been said, Dale Moon was such a consummate pro. The current set up is utterly dreadful.

Dale Moon and his use of social media was great. Really brought the club into the 21st century.

The away days video diaries, quizzes and questions with the players and recreating of goals from years gone by to name a few.

Now we have the repeat and recycle questions given to the players and staff every week. I mean the pre-match show which is 10 minutes long compromises of the manager and player interview which are released the day before. We just reuse things as much as possible.

Some fresh impetus is needed. It doesn’t take much. A little browse on other clubs YouTubes gives plenty of ideas.

The most irritating thing about this media issue is that we have several intelligent qualified media students who are related to fans of this club, who would be totally embarrassed if they had put out that nonsense yesterday. Get a grip Leigh, and sort this out.

I will be taking every opportunity to use it in my interactions today.

It’s a good one, isn’t it? Should be regularly used in “meeting bingo”.

I like to use “behoves” at times, and occasionally will slip in a “behooves” for a bit of variety.
