A bit tender mate
I’m with you @Cully. My concern with Sadler is our ability to get to 50 points.
But I differ in so far as I’d throw in the caviat that we give it at least a handful of games to see how things settle. Plus I’d be happy with 1-0 anti football wins if it keeps us in and around striking distance of promotion.
It’s very difficult to judge at the moment. I think our defending last year was amongst the worst I’ve seen in 30 years. Barely any team gets promoted with that record or that level of disorganisation so if it continues I’d get shot. In addition to this we place no value on possession. Whilst not the be all and end all it does impact how we control games when in the lead and claw our way back when under the cosh.! But teams (Leicester) do get this way of playing to work so let’s see.
Let’s see what sort of momentum we can build in Aug and Sept
Are you sure about that.
They were for sale in the locker £4
A bit harsh imo. First half we played some decent stuff and moved the ball quick and didn’t aimlessly hoof it. Second half wasnt great but at least be reasonable. I don’t think Sadler the right manager for us but we totally controlled the game yesterday and never looked like letting 1 in. It’s clear we need strikers so let’s see what happens over the next week or so.
Agree with you. In the first half we played some decent stuff and I would like to see more of that. In the second half we didn’t have a focal point and that affected us but even in that half there were some decent touches from Adomah, Jellis and Barrett . Certainly we need to be more cohesive but I saw some good signs yesterday. We need to build on that and once we have a full squad we can assess things again.
For me we were lucky to be playing Morecambe yesterday, they were absolutely terrible.
Anyone decent and we would have been in trouble.
Club needs 2/3 in this week.
enjoyed the first half, thought we moved the ball well and everyone in the team played their part. We didn’t adjust well to Jamma going off and we seemed to lose energy after 65 minutes. Adams made his changes early which gave them a little impetus but we managed that although I thought we got a little bit panicky at times and gave the ball back to them with some rash clearances and because we hadn’t got an outlet. Adomah added composure and we finished the game on top. I was pleased with Stirk’s performance overall but he could’ve used the ball better on occasions. Simkin was better in the first half but faded. Barrett seemed assured and made some good defensive tackles which I was relieved to see as I had seen him get done a few times in pre-season. Jellis has a lot of energy and seemed to have a point to prove. No bad thing. Got into some good advanced positions but let down by some overhit passes from team mates. The defence were reliable which is what we need if we are to do well. Yes getting in forwards is important but not shipping in goals like we did last season is just as important. Having a good weekend as my team won! UTS; the “Strikerless Sensations”
Barrett was fantastic yesterday (FL Debut) considering he was poorly.
Some here had already wrote him off.
There are slightly longer highlights on the NowTV app (and presumably Sky) which include the Matt collision and Adomah’s foul.
The one recovery tackle he made in the second half was class timed to perfection and stopped a dangerous attack, i was sceptical in pre season of Barratt but on yesterday’s performance looks like a shrewd signing.
Bit difficult to take too much from that game alone. It was against a team who have recruited 15 players hurriedly in the last view weeks who look destined to struggle and is the first game of the season where both teams are still seeing where they are in being competitive in real competitive games.
Observation though, It turned out pretty much as you would expect from what I’ve seen of us and know of them, looked like a comfortable 1- 0 win where they never really troubled us. Second half was like a training game, looked like their manager said at half time I’m not concerned if we lose 1-0 but I want to see you keep the ball better and play it around a bit and looked like we we’re happy to let them do that because it was all in front of us and they weren’t really doing much with that possession, hence the possession stats in the 2nd half.
We showed some nice play around the box on our left in the first half which looks promising, Stirk was tidy doing the simple stuff that’s important in that position. Albert looked like he has some quaility and a player that’s dropped a level which hasn’t always been the case when we’ve signed players who have played at a higher level but are reaching the end of their career so that’s also good.
Defence did everything that was asked of them but they weren’t really asked too many questions.
Probably one of the easiest games we’ll have this season so will need several more games against better teams to really know where we are at.
Spot on assessment my thoughts exactly
Not available on my Sky app yet, just the main highlights posted yesterday. No idea if you can get it via a Sky box as I’ve got their sports package from Virgin so might be different to a direct subscriber.
As has been noted, the full game replay is now on Saddlers+. It will probably be like iFollow and pop up after midnight on game day. No highlights/extended highlights like we also used to get though …
Does anyone know how you can record a game that is not the main one shown on a Sky channel but on the red button menu?
To answer aquestion @Belphegor asked (was it this thread or another one?) - yes, apparently it was watchable on a dodgy Firestick. But did anyone manage to watch it on a pukka Firestick using Saddlers+ over a VPN?
I looked for a program seller but couldn’t find one, my Grandson wanted one usually gets one for the first game.
I ventured into the Locker as well. My carer for the day @Locky is blooming useless
Someone mentioned earlier that they are now sold in the bars, ticket office etc and not via the traditional sellers.
Would have been nice to know before hand!
Yes that is true, I saw someone who went to the bar yesterday and got a programme from there.
There’s nobody decent in this league, it’s league 2 for a reason. Morecambe was bad but with Adams they will stay up
That’s not true though is it, there was some bloody good teams last season.
And no doubt it will be the same this season.
