One criticism Simkin had last season was that his save % was very low, was one of the lowest in the division at 60%.
Roberts had a save % of nearly 80% last season.
Seems like a good pickup.

He got injured just after he joined them.
Oh rightâŚso it was a bit of a Bielik situation, fair enough!
Quality eighties throwback jumper.
We are up against it if Hornby is first choice. Heâs alright as back up, better than having a young kid on the bench. First choice, no thanks. He doesnât claim anything, he is what my Dad used to call âbostikâ glued to his line. Doesnât seem a confident keeper.
I wasnât Simkinâs biggest fan but he is far better than Hornby and should have been back in the team quicker.
Not quite, was on the bench for a few games.
Looks an upgrade on last season to me but fed up of loans.
Joined Rovers they kept him on for a while but needed recovery (read somewhere an op) so he went back to Watford
Goalkeepers donât âcome of ageâ until theyâre mid-twenties, significantly older than out-field counterparts.
Clubs also tend to carry 2 or 3 in their academies alone, which means that thereâs a load of keepers out there sitting in the ranks of âbiggerâ clubs needing proper league football experience.
Personally I donât mind the loan approach with keepers - mainly because thereâs such an abundance of them in the 19-25 age bracket, often number 3, 4 or 5 in the pecking order and partly because theyâre much less likely to get recalled - I mean how often would you get a Nathan Lowe situation with a young keeper?
In a broader sense though, I still hate the fact the mighty Watford are academy status and can afford to carry huge numbers of players that would otherwise be contracted directly to the likes of us, meaning we could profit from selling them on. I often wonder if we ever reached the heights of the Championship again, whether weâd be able to compete financially with our current setup.
Good luck Myles seems a decent signing from what I can find on him.
Coming so early on a Monday, does this signal further announcements today?
Whooooooooooooooooo are ya.
Like Chuck, and that ex-Wolves centre-half, George Berry, in the late â70s!
It must be a bit of a concern, that he was recalled from his loan at Partick, and I just read they recalled him from his loan the previous season.
If he does well are they likely to recall and push him up a division? If he doesnât do well⌠we get to keep him, lucky us
I was expecting Stuttle to be announced by now. Maybe not over the line just yet.
Donât mind a loan signing as a goalkeeper when we already have one permanent, hopefully doesnât affect the budget much. As long as thatâs the only part of the spine of the squad we fill with loans itâs fine.
Saft ay it
