From what I remember of that game we went in level at half time and it absolutely poured down so the game was abandoned.
The replay took place on the Friday night and we had Newton crocked in the first ten minutes.
Boswell suffered a fractured cheekbone and was taken to hospital and (I think) Palin went in goal and we lost 2 nil. Happy days
We lost 2-1 in fact. We scored even with 9 men.
In those days, it really paid off to injure the opposition since they could not be replaced.
Yes that is how I remember it. We little thought as young men it would take so long to get back into Division 2 (as it was then) and then it was just one season before we had the Graydon/Lee period.
Indeed (apologies) I completely forgot about cannonball.
Absolutely, I was twelve (almost thirteen) had seen two promotions and one relegation at that point in time. The first game saw us the better side but at half time the pitch looked like a swamp and the game was called off.
Even the second game we were on top despite losing our goalkeeper and Palin who if my memory serves me correctly was a full back going in goal.
He was and you are right. We were the better side. I was 18 and had seen us promoted twice! Now I am a few years older I hope I may see something similar before I kick the bucket.
Nope
@Belphegor i am very much back it when itâs going right. Say when itâs not.
I am very much expect the best, ask why itâs not the best and find a solution. Thatâs how it is for me generally.
I thought Pomletts running of the club and the mismanagement of the team at times last season and previously did not deserve backing. I wasnât getting ST and I certainly wasnât paying to watch rubbish.
That said Iâm now a season ticket holder.
There are sections of our support who would clap and cheer us all the way to the national league. Iâm not that kind of person no. I donât understand those kind of people.
Think is high time our manager Matt Sadler won manager of the month award .come on EFL pull your finger out top of the league 9 pts ahead of the rest .nailed on .smashing our rivals whatâs he gorra do .
Nailed on for December.
Iâm writing his acceptance speech right now .â I donât deserve this I had nothing to do with it completely down Richard OâKellyâ
Donât forget Jon Whitney, who has been working incognito, producing the fittest squad we have had in decades
âIâve never been so proud in all my career as a PE teacher. Iâm so grateful I stumbled upon the formation and players thanks to injuries. As for loans, owning rentals is in my blood.â
He is a cert for Realtor of year and is in with a chance of best PE Teacher as well but thatâs usually taken out by one of the more politically active members of the Faculty
Rooney gone from Plymouth. Hope they donât come knocking the door for Sadler
Or worse still, do a swapsâŚ
Rumour has it their previous manager maybe rocking back up, chap who went to Stoke, SchumacherâŚ
Or Lowe⌠Argyle seem to have a thing for Scouse managers so I think weâre safe with Sadler.
At least now plymouth will now be known as Plymouth again, not Wayne Rooneys Plymouth
We shouldnât underestimate the role Ben Sadler has played in our resurgence. The âlets have a laugh at the club and send the first team to an away match on the Villa busâ mentality has been replaced with a slick, professional attitude. Players pick up on this. We are not a mug club anymore.
They played Frank Lampardâs Coventry on Boxing Day
