New Stadium?

The idea of moving is not something I would be happy about. The ground is in the right place at the centre of the motorway network and next to the railway . It isn’t the greatest stadium but it has plenty of space to expand and is able to cater for large conference events. I doubt there is much to this rumour but if there is finding a site will not be easy as this thread demonstrates.

I agree having already moved before I wouldn’t be that keen on moving again. If we did happen to get promoted ( a big if I know) and we got bigger crowds having the away end made the same as the main stand I think that would be better

Never liked Bescot

Most of our fans live north of Bescot

Town Centre would make most sense, or at least close to a station, unless, and I suspect if they are planning on moving, then maybe a nightmare Shrewsbury type situation somewhere in the middle of nowhere on cheap land type thing. A quick scan on google earth and you can see Aldridge offers some opportunity

Relocate to Alexander stadium. 15 mins on bus from walsall. Accessible. Parking

And bigger capacity.

That would be awful

Bore off and support Shrewsbury. Might be closer for you

I would like it

Wasn’t keen myself at first as I loved fellows park. But going with my son in the family stand we had some great times there

Cant deny the brilliant times we’ve had but the ground often feels cold and quiet, Tuesday home games have always been bad, I reckon our Tuesday night win ratio must be really low.

It’s been a poor 6 or 7 years generally at home.

Suppose it would look lovely while you watched the game on the telly

Completely unscientific and anecdotal, but it does feel like the majority of our support is from the north of the borough. The only real benefit of Bescot is the proximity to J9 and the dedicated train station. However, you’re never really that far from the M6 or the railway anywhere in Walsall, so I don’t see that being a huge issue.

If it’s owned by Birmingham City Council we’d get it at a knocked down price I hear they are a short of a few quid

Possibly… Or more likely switched it off and listened to blackwater park or ghost reveries

The running tracks though

I personally think it’s a really nice stadium. Main stand especially. Then stick the away fans in the uncovered seats

Always a challenge re atmosphere with an athletics track though.

Its not utilised during the non athletics season September to may

U can not build were the scratching a factory is were would the club get the wages from :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve just sold my house in Aldridge so yes by all means build it there. In fact put it on Anchor Meadow . That twit Andy Street has been banging on about reopening Aldridge station ideal for any poor Walsall fans living in Walsall.

When you throw in the market and the motorway advertising as well, it doesn’t sit with them saying they want to develop the business side further There’s no guarantee you could replace with similar elsewhere. In fact , it would be hard to see anywhere having the same potential for non-football income.
