No Budget cut

Why do certain so called Supporters try to de-stabilise our Club by posting complete rubbish on here.
There is almost certainly no budget cuts , and i would think that there has been a substantial uplift in this years budget. I am sure that Ben will confirm this in due course.
It would not be sensible to shout from the rafters that we have an increased budget, as this could inflate potential costs for new signings.
For goodness sake calm down.

Walsall Fan TV (the joy and the pain) does a lot of good stuff and many on here enjoy his content but he’s done nobody any favours here, he should really retract his comments for the good of everyone.

There has been a budget cut. But wether is 15% is debatable

What is not rumour And very true Is that. Back room. Staff. Where offered new contracts on lower riates of pay.

Some have. Chose. to accept whilst others have moved on. So yes the budget has been cut

But anybody thinking they are. going. To admit to this are deluded.

The usual. Competitive budget. Line. Willbe rolled out

A budget cut doesn’t. Necessarily mean a weaker team It may be they are reigning. Saddler in from signing. Anymore Overpaid. Tat. And remember they are. Venture capitalists at heart. So highly likely That they have reduced it in order to maximise Their investors returns

They’re not venture capitalists Dh, that applies to companies who are starting up.

Which almost certainly means you don’t know for sure.

It was said elsewhere and discussed on here.

This in terms of Dan Watson, who hasn’t even left yet?

Or Tom Knowles, who the club didn’t exercise an option in their favour?

Or the physiotherapist, who the club advertised a new job role for it two months ago?

They were formed in 2021 mate

So very much a start-up group with they took over Walsall football club. And as said very much venture capitalists.

Yes, but the company they are investing in need to be starting up if they are venture capitalists. As we know Walsall have been around for years

Suppose you could argue the ‘multi club model’ is a start up. :+1:

Maybe, just maybe they are cutting backroom staff costs and supprt staff in order to increase the playing budget. Not that I’ve heard anything but that’s what I would do in their shoes.

Exactly mate

First and foremost they have to make a return for their investors

The way they appear to be doing it at Walsall
Is investing in the infrastructure to maximise those revenue streams

That’s all well and good, but remember we are a. football club. It’s on the pitch fans want to see success And to date. Very little appears to be hspoening. On that front

The business was formed to make a specific vehicle to invest in football clubs and make a return for investors. Not sure what you mean by venture capitalism but they fit the description by being investors in a high-risk business.

Beyond that the return to shareholders is a blue chip investment in the same way it was to Bonser, with one major difference - we’re paying to own our ground, not rent it.

The big payoff on the venture side is being able to sell the club (now with ground instead of without) for more than they paid for it. That means they have a vested interest in making it better.

Or maybe they just want better?

With the exception of Dan Watson (if he does leave) none of the departures that have been confirmed so far are ones that you’d say will be big losses for us.

As for Watson, could be a case that a bigger club has seen the work he’s done with us and it’s too good of an offer for him to refuse.

Watson. Offered lower terms. Declined and Left

Knowles offered lower terms. Declined And left

Physio. Offered. Lower terms. Declined. Saw contract out. And left. Club knowing his departure was imminent. Advertised. For replacement. But with reduced salary

It isn’t hard mate to see. There’s been a budget cut

And there’s. Nothing. Wrong in that. As long as these savings are redirected to the playing staff

We will wait and see what the squad looks like. Come. New season kick off. To see if the cuts. Are. To aid a better playing squad or not

His numbers and end product for a wing back was appalling, maybe we wanted to bring in someone better that could actually play in the system we play?

Why offer him a contract to sit on the bench or out of sympathy?

Tbf we may just t have over paid and have offered what the players are now worth?
Eg did the keepers really improve under Watson was he worth his wage?
Was Knowles worth his wage when he is as efficient as the English government ? His new wage being relative to his performance is fair
Saving wages with underperforming staff isn’t necessarily cutting wages to save money

As I said further up the thread mate there’s nothing wrong in budget cuts in certain areas. Or amongstb the deadwood

so long as the savings benefit the playing squad?

Watson still had a year left on his current contract

Offering lower terms shows the value placed on these people. And their roles.

Hopefully it is an indication that they are spending wisely…said more in hope than anything.
