I thought County were really lovely on the eye for L2, call it tippy tappy if you want, but they had some dangerous triangles going in the final third which caused us issues from the flanks, and their players seemed to know instinctively where each other was.
Problem for them is that works if you have PL level players, but L2 players are L2 for a reason and will make mistakes, and I said a couple of days ago playing County would suit us much better than cloggers like Bromley.
I really don’t rate Simkin though, possible deflection aside for the 2nd, he failed to command his box on a couple of corners, and seems very shaky under high balls where he’s getting pressure from the opposition.
Great game between two good L2 teams.
A relief to see Barrett playing well and that Saddler had the confidence to play Williams.
We missed Comley, but Hall and Lakin more than made up for the weakness in our midfield.
So pleasing that Saddler does not try to defend a lead by subbing forwards with defenders.
UTS
Saddler is top class in post-match interviews.
Every chance he’ll manage at Championship level. Brings a level of professionalism not seen for many years.
While in the middle of a poker tourno and drinking I attempted some extended highlights, the first two minutes is just Simkin’s “injury” so should probably skip that. Thought it would be a good place to start considering the game changed from there. Editing a bit dodgy from the reasons mentioned
To put a different twist on things, I think we were more economical with the ball_et and waltzed past the County defence when we did have it. I don’t want to bhangra on about it, but we can can definitely win this league if we keep playing like that.
