Port Vale (H) April 5th, 12.30pm kick off

I wish I could share your thinking pal but I’ve lost my faith now - it’s gone:

We need 3 from 12

We need 3 from 8

We need 3 from 6

We need 3 from 5

It’s a classic case of narrowing opportunities and the constant in it is that we actually have stopped winning - right now, nothing makes me feel that will change anytime soon…

More verbal diarrhoea from Sadler.
Shame he can’t see past his favourites when it comes to team selection.
Stirk and Jellis and Mcentee shouldn’t be near first team selection after their respective form in the last month or so.
None of them can win a ball and pass accurately. Yet again.
Not sure Stirk would get in a Conference team.
Big Dave looks like an accident waiting to happen.
Where’s Williams for that sort of game. Even just for his throw ins?
Gordon hasn’t been the same since his call up.
But no.Mr. Stubborn plays his mates.
I probably might get a bet on him selecting his other best mate Josh Gordon for remaining games.

Saving him for the play-offs.

Don’t get the point, I agree the fans getting behind the team is key, but give us something to work with FFS.

Huf. We dont half make it hard for ourselves.

Highlights

Fuming! Lot of blame to Sadler but an equal if not more to the players. Midfield has been embarrassingly bad recently. No longer in our hands

Exciting for who?

We were ok for 15 minutes then PV completely dominated the half.

Garrity and Tolaj are streaks ahead of anything we have

Utterly dejected.

Dog shit. Embarrassing.

We’ve got our Walsall back!

It is in our hands. Other teams have to play each other.

I doubt it is going to be a popular opinion but our best chance of promotion at this point is probably to replace Sadler if there is anyone available who could do a job on a short-term contract. Hope for a new manager bounce, because I am struggling to see us winning another game this season. It won’t happen, but it must be a serious consideration.

How much longer can we watch the tired legs of Jamille Matt running through treacle, battling for endless hoofs, that he just doesn’t do well enough with in all honestly. That’s not a knock at him, it is just how I see it. We don’t win any of the second balls; even 60/40s in our favour we seem to come out without the ball. We have no idea in midfield at all. I’m not trying to single Matt out but our strategy is built around him. You have to pick up the second balls more often if we are going to play that way.

We can’t keep the ball for more than a few seconds. We couldn’t take the sting out of the game at 2-1 up for that very reason.

The second half performance was pathetic. No idea at all other than keep launching it forward. This run of results is beyond ridiculous and I can’t see where it ends, even with a few more favourable fixtures. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t win again this season. Hopefully we can go and win at Barrow, but it feels unlikely.

Shit day. 2 and a half hours to get back to Cannock in the car. I probably won’t have that problem next season.

Apart from the first 15 - 20 mins, awful today.

The most striking part is that we never have control of a game when leading. Ball retention is awful. The players are panicking and hoofing far too much. I’m still adamant that we have players in the squad that are better at generally controlling games, but rarely have an opportunity.

I thought Vale were decent but we hardly laid a glove on them. There seems to be no tactical awareness of how to build up pressure, create chances etc. It’s just the hoof over the top and hope for a mistake.

Sadler needs to sort this out and quick. He’s had months to address this but just plays pretty much the same team in the same formation, hoping things will magically change. It hasn’t and won’t happen until Sadler starts learning to use the best players at his disposal, a plan B etc. His interview was again awful…what actually can any supporter take away from that apart from he knows we’ll be disappointed!

If we lose at Barrow, I really can’t see us recovering even though the fixtures look kind. The pressure to win those will be immense and for a team not used to winning it’ll be too much. Plus, if we do miss out and inevitably lose in the playoffs, the hangover will be huge and run into next season. I really fear another relegation battle next term. I hope I’m wrong and we somehow turn the ship around this season before it’s too late.

UTS!

You get it now

You have 100% got on board

I don’t think I ever argued against you to be fair, I saw the points you were trying to make.

To be fair, though, I don’t think I come over as enjoying it like you do.

LOL that actually made me lof. Thanks x

I’m an optimistic realist - always ‘got it’ just choose not to spout too much crap like some do….

You seem to love making your posts about folk rather than the topic itself…

Sadler talking shit again … we will be us!!! We are currently shite Mat and that is absolutely down to the manager and coaching staff. How can you not motivate a group so far ahead to see it through. The quality is not there and you need that when you need a minimum of 3 wins from 5 to get over the line. Sadler lacks passion, belief and drive, not entirely sure that a few of the players have lost faith in him. We need some leadership on the pitch and Jamma doesn’t provide that for me, can’t believe I am typing this but time for DD to come in for Dave, he lumbers around dallying on the ball most of the time, does not win enough of his duels in the air and rarely finds a pass when asked to do so. We needs some guts n glory on the pitch and feel that DD may be the only one to offer that. Sadler has held onto his favourites at all costs and it has not worked, we need to see Hall starting, Chang in the 18 and DJ getting more game time as for me Wheatley is not ready for a league two scrap. If Williams isn’t being selected cos he has spit his dummy out and signed a pre contract with some second rate Scottish outfit tell us so we can move on.

League table based on results since 18th Jan, mad that we still have a chance really!

Just noticed ref referee’d the Rushall game this afternoon.

The real mystery to me is: how did this team manage to win 9 games on the bounce?!! After today’s performance, I would look to rest Stirk, Gordon and Jellis, but that might not be possible given the dearth of replacements. I would also consider bringing in Daniels for Okagbue. The defence hasn’t looked solid for months. We have to win at Barrow and so I would go with:

Hornby - Barrett - McEntee; Daniels, Allen - Gordon (or Asiimwe) - Hall; Stirk (or Chang); Lakin - Matt (or Harrison) Amantchi.

Subs: Simkin; Asiimwe; Williams; Jellis; Adomah; DJ; Wheatley (or Matt or Harrison)

We have to have more threat going forwards - we look toothless most of the time.
