UTS Forever!
there was an article in the express and star but it’s behind a paywall
We played well for 20 mins went 2-1 up then Sat back with 11 men behind the ball like there was 5 mins left 2 long chucks in to our box and our lads just all ball watched like they was watching a shooting star infact I dont remember us wining any headers in our box there penno what was hornby thinking just get it up the pitch or Gordon just get rid the tackle for the penno looks fair on the highlights 2nd half I nearly put out missing person reports for a couple of players jellis has been off it for weeks can’t even put a 5 yard pass to one of our players and his set pieces the less said about them stirk seems off as well he also had a few words with some fans in the family stand at the end and was sarcastically tapping his chin Gordon is hit and miss makes good runs then makes the wrong decisions like be selfish and carry on running instead of passing or puts in a awful cross that Iva don’t beat the first man or is well over hit the back 3 was all over the place today they needed a leader amongst them at one point I got bored of them passing it between themselves
People keep on saying we only need 3 wins but I honestly I hope I’m wrong can’t see us winning one let alone 3 we have won 2 since Jan something needs to change and quick
I can summarise our recent tactics quite quickly…
HOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!
That second half was completely unacceptable. I can accept us not getting back in the game, but what I can’t accept is not having a go at them. It was as if the players were looking at each other for someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck
The midfield were dreadful. I’ve never seen so many uncontested second balls. There was a lack of desire to win the ball and on the rare occasions that we did have it, there was no movement for the man in possession
We had them absolutely rattled until we took the lead, then we completely stopped doing what was working. If the plan was to sit back, soak up pressure then hit them on the break then it was foolish given our recent defensive record
It wouldn’t be so bad if we had someone who could actually win some of the hoofs and hold the ball. Also if we ever came out with any of the second balls. Vale picked them all up today.
Even taking into account we were playing a decent team, that second half performance is as bad as we’ve played this season. Hopeless.
People clamouring for Chang, Hall, DJ, Wheatley etc - what’s the point when we just smash it and hope someone wins a flick on?!
More to the point, why did we sign players like Hall, who clearly have technical ability in midfield, where only work rate is required?
Yep, although if Levi had squared into the gaping space Stirk was running in to, to sweep home into an open goal, then things might have been different I suppose.
Sadler hasn’t got a clue how to play attacking football that retains the ball. It’s clueless kick and chase hoof ball.
Let’s look on the bright side: we can’t get relegated and we can play Shrewsbury next season.
Glass half full.
Of shit.
This is what has disappointed me most.
We are desperately chasing promotion, massive game against a fierce local rival. Vale danced off the pitch after the game like they’d merely turned up.
Unacceptable in every respect.
I reckon if he bought a Lamborghini, he’d decide to get the bus everywhere.
@Thanatos i think Sadlers pre Jan style not a problem. The play on the break could be entertaining
But where we lack (and you’ve said as much before) we place no value on possession.
Vale were able to build back in to the game by keeping the ball well. They held on to it by keeping the ball. We will never do that under Sadler.
Should sadler be sacked. Most definitely he should.
Will he be sacked unfortunately no
Will we still be promoted yes I still believe we will scramble promotion
If he achieves promotion, should he still be sacked. Again, the answer ismost definitely.
If ever he gets us into league one and he’s left at the helm. We will be a laughing stock
Said for a long long time he’s nothing but a very lucky manager who stumbles on winning formations through luck rather than judgemen
Onto Barrow next week Uts
Gutted after such a promising start. Feeling very despondent.
On a positive note, the first 20 minutes were crazy, the atmosphere was immense, one of the noisiest we’ve created and at 2-1 it was potentially looking like a memorable day was in the offing. Then we sat back, they piled on the pressure, we looked all panicky in defence and by half time they’d turned it around. Second half was awful. We lack ability or confidence (or both) to control the ball, to pass, to work a ball through midfield. In fact, it felt like what midfield? Any time our defence looked to play forward it was hit and hope hoof ball.
I really thought today would be the much needed win to keep the chasing pack at bay and give us a much needed boost to get the job wrapped up.
Now i fear the worst. A play off spot which we then fudge up with our confidence levels in the gutter.
It hurts to admit this but Vale were far superior for 60 to 70 minutes. Decent passing, control and know how to play through the midfield. Some quality players too including the Swiss ponytail.
For us, i thought Levi is looking better and a handful to deal with. Connor slotted back into his role well. That is about it.
Yep, can lose games but there is a way to lose them.
Criminal to not even land a blow in the second half. Keeper has never had an easier afternoon.
Summed it up when the closest we came to scoring was Allen scoring direct from a corner.
Listening to Sadlers interview the usual repeated twaddle he seemed to bemoaning the team fell into a to defensive mode .is that not surprising the style of football he plays and players HE selects buts under massive pressure defensively they get no respite if I played in that defence I would be pulling my hair out at his tactics and the midfield players .you could perm any three defenders you want from the squad it’s not gone a change anything.he takes no blame for any defeat ever .just a yea it didn’t go the way we wanted it to .” That wasn’t us “ crap .
Amen brother
Quite right, i have no issue with losing to good teams, or average teams if we have the odd off day, but im afraid the second half was devoid of everything required in the way of commitment, and application. My daughter has bought my season ticket next season for my 70th, i may be requesting a refund, i really cant sit through that type of performance
Clearly it says something about the mindset of the team and management that they can’t get up for a game as important as todays… after 20 minutes we should have had the game by the throat and what transpired was a total capitulation in all areas of the pitch…
They ask the fans to turn up and support the team - we’ve done that admirably all season, home and away… Brilliant supporters have kept their part of the bargain - no worries there…
But they (team and management) seem incapable of moving on from what has been a disastrous season since January…
Professionalism alone surely dictates that something has to change to prevent this season turning us into a laughing stock…
Over to the 2 Bens for some answers….
