Prayer Room

Bearing in mind the make up of our Borough it makes sense.

Punching above our weight there.

Every time I see someone on social media complaining about it I’m going to reply with ā€˜i felt the same at first but then I tried it out and it was so good that myself and my whole family have converted to islam’.

That should really take their anger to the next level.

Bradford City and Leeds united have them too I believe

The club have posted again on social media today about it showing it officially being opened.
Predictably the post has attracted all the same moaners. Club has started deleting some of the posts which were particularly bigoted.

The things some people are willing to post online in their own name is mind boggling.

I stayed away from the comments, but I can imagine. Embarrassing.

There’s some nasty people out there using Christianity to hide their racism, or using the multi faith angle to attack non-Christians, which also happens to be somewhat racist. A shocking pile on for something that won’t affect their sad angry lives in the slightest.

Isn’t that one of the core tenets of organised religion in general?

Yep it’s not the preserve of Christians, just as many nasty, vile people of other religions out there using other things to justify their racism.

No, it’s not. Most religious people just want to live their lives, have a cup of tea with their mates, raise their families and enjoy life. The multi-faith funding of our brand new multi-faith prayer room is testimony for this.

Only a very small minority use it to poison the world with hate.

Fundamentalists , of any faith, think those who do not share their faith are lesser people than them. It’s not about race or ethnicity.

My point was it’s easy for racists to use religion for division.

But these people aren’t fundamentalists. They’re probably not even Christians. They’re just using the term ā€œChristianity " as a code for " white,ā€ which is a bit ironic really when you look at its origins.

It’s only people from somewhere else that can be fundamentalists…

I agree with you on this. Islam’s main message is one of peace but that is largely ignored by the fundamentalists and in Christianity too there are numerous fundamentalist sects who seem to ignore the main message that Jesus gave which is one of love. I am not too sure about other faiths but it seems in India that there are Hindu fundamentalists who seek to harm those of other religions.
I suppose in this respect religion is no different to other aspects of our lives where some folk have stronger views than others eg politics , art, sport etc

… but in religion’s case they tend to end in genocide, infanticide, war and burning at the stake

Surely most (if not all) religions at their core, preach faith, tolerance and peace.

Isn’t it the case that Fundamentalists simply use religion as a platform for hate and division?

Shame you had to spoil that point with a silly use of an emoji.

That’s very woke. Are you offended by an emoji?

Not entirely, the Bible and the Quran contain numerous passages of violent rhetoric. They are very aggressive pieces of literature.

It’s just that some groups interpret those passages in different ways. Not saying your comment isn’t true, it most definitely has been (I think created in fact) as a tool to control people through mass delusions and belief in something intangible.
