Referees

Ref tonight was very good I thought. Obviously with lack of fans etc it was an easier game to ref than tge Crewe game but he let the game flow and was impressive. Less said about the ref for Crewe the better.

The thing that frustrates me the most with referees is that every coming together results in a foul given one way or the other. Genuine 50-50ā€™s see the award of a free kick, likewise two players jostling with each other If thereā€™s a genuine foul then fair enough, otherwise, let them get on with it

I hope David Coote is OK.

Been stitched up good and proper by ā€œmatesā€. Itā€™s like Bobby Madley all over again but this time a lot worse.

Cooteā€™s career probably done if the various videos are authentic. Possibly right outcome in that regard. Humiliated beyond belief. Hope heā€™s got some decent people around him.

Yep looks like heā€™s either really fell out with someone or theyā€™re just money grabbers.
Still thatā€™s the trouble now, canā€™t get away with anything as thereā€™ll always be some idiot filming life rather than just living it.

I hate to go on about officials, especially after such a superb performance from the team on Saturday. The incident at the end of the game really highlighted the inconsistency in officiating.

There were a few handbags in the corner well into injury time which took well over a minute to sort out. Rightly, the referee added that time onto the end of injury time.

Harping back to the Crewe game, play was delayed for around 3 minutes in injury time, yet the official stuck to the allotted time. The mind boggles

Think there should have been 13 in total
He blew on 8.

A minimum of 10 minutes were announced and Iā€™m sure he blew on 101 minutes, meaning he played just 11 and a bit minutes stoppage time.
There shouldā€™ve been at least two more minutes played.

Must the the hardest job on the pitch

No one likes you
No one respects you in football
Constantly booed and abused by both fans
Your the least paid person on the grass
You can make a really tough decision by yourself with no tv support that can change an entire game and someoneā€™s gonna hate you for it
Itā€™s a tough job and I think they deserve more help and respect

Itā€™s a dirty job but someoneā€™s gotta do it.

The only thing we hope for is a competence thatā€™s fair, however incompetent. If the ref is fails to both teams it doesnā€™t matter how bad he is as things even themselves out. When heā€™s an absolute one-eyed monster itā€™s different.

Iā€™m sure the club has a database and can adapt play accordingly. The cards last game suggest the ref was an utterā€¦

Thatā€™s exactly the crux of the problem, the inconsistency. If somethingā€™s been genuinely missed, fair enough. Itā€™s when what constitutes as a foul (in that particular officialā€™s eyes) changes during the game. If youā€™re going to pull up every slight bit of contact, then do it consistently. If you go the other way and let players have a bit of a tussle, then allow it all game

The amount of times that a foul is given, only for a similar challenge to be waved away a few minutes later is shocking. It happens every game. Against Crewe (I really need to let this game fase from memory!) Bogle was all over Gordon at the back post in the first half and almost scored from it. Second half, Matt went for a ball in similar circumstances and got booked for it.

It is a hard job, but that bloke made it hard for himself.

From only around 5 mins in he gave a warning of what was to come. Dave, I think it was, made an excellent tackle only for it to be called a foul. I recall at the time wondering how a referee could get something so obviously wrong. It was a feat that he repeated three times in the game - one of which resulted in a booking.

From the 69th Minute heā€™d completely lost control. Bogle standing not far from the family stand was subā€™d, but started to make his way across the pitch to the tunnel. Rightly, the Ref ordered the player to leave the field at the nearest point. Bogle ignored him and carried on walking. The Ref asked him again and was ignored for a second time. In the end the ref walked the width of the pitch with him and took no action. Bogle should have been booked and booked again for the second offence.

Just before the flair up, we won a free kick on the edge of our area - but somehow Crewe managed to delay the restart, smuggling the ball back into their own half. One of theirs was stood near their dug-out, actually hiding the ball behind his back, laughing.

OK, our people should not have got involved, but that no Crewe player or official had action taken against them was a joke.
