Retained & Released List - 2022

Osadebe was too often the only player who tried to to do something. Got flak for it, because he’s not that good at single handedly opening the opponent’s defences. In a team, where he would not be the only attacking option, he would look better. But I’m not surprised if he wants out. No, not a bit.

I disagree. The reason these teams are above us in league is that they have players operating with consistency game in game out, not 9/10 one week and 3.5/10 for the next 7/8 games.

Why do people that haven’t seen Osadebe play think he’s the new Zidane??

Mind blowing isn’t it, lads done nothing for the club yet fans wouldn’t blame him if he left :rofl::rofl: ffs

Fingers crossed he wants it a lot

It’s also not true. Osedebe has played in teams with Rory Holden, Wes McDonald, Sam Perry, Jack Earring, Brendan Kiernan, Otis Khan, Connor Wilkinson and Tyrese Shade.

He’s never been relied upon to be the “sole” creative player. His best performances are at right wing back, says a lot about his creativity.

Strange isn’t it that folk seem to trust Flynn on all matters except Osadebie? As he’s probably forgotten more about football than most of us know I’m prepared to go with him. He obviously thinks he has a player and wants to keep him.

I take your point about consistency, it’s obviously a massive flaw i his game and the reason he hasn’t progressed in the game. I still stick by the system not suiting his game though. You’ve only got to look around the leagues to see examples of players performances dropping/raising based on how the team play, as well as their own performance levels of course

Prime example is Jack Grealish, he’s had to change the way he plays to fit into the City side and as a result his performance levels have dropped (extreme example I know). To be the main creative spark in an otherwise regimented side you need to be extra special. Oztumer was in a similar situation when he was here

I get the arguments about Osadebe being wildly inconsistent and the fact that he is a bit of a wally. But he is probably the only player we have who can do the unexpected and unlock defences. He also rarely hides and even when he is not playing well he does try to make things happen. Got me off my seat more times than the rest last season. The opposition have no idea what he is going to do so puts doubts in their mind. Having said that I am also completely convinced that the fact the opposition have no idea what he is going to do is totally down to the fact that I don’t think he does either. I’ll be happy if he signs again and trust Flynn to get the best out of him.

I don’t think any football manager in the history of … well, football has ever got every single decision and judgement correct. I think Flynn is a terrific manager for this level and I have loved what I have heard so far, that doesn’t mean you back every single decision he ever makes. For me, resigning Osedebe would be a mistake. We’ve been here before.

We need a better squad.
I see Osadebe as a squad player, but we shouldn’t build a team around him.
It also depends on his salary. The question is can you get anyone better for less.

Flynn might well have offered him a contract, but for a guess it’s not a great one or he would have signed by now.

Maybe it’s not about money, but about will to sign a deal.

Presumably he has been offered contract and is hedging his bets to see if anything better comes in. From his personal perspective don’t suppose we can blame him for that, we’d all look for best offer possible to support our family etc. I certainly wouldn’t offer him the earth, offer him slight improvement on previous terms if he accepts he accepts, if he doesn’t we move on. I’ve always liked players who are shall we say unpredictable, none of whom have been consistent otherwise they wouldn’t be playing for us. Willy Naughton would be in my all time top 5 players for us, also massively inconsistent but now and then he just did something that made me go wow.

Oss gets booed alot at games and gets alot of hate or negative feedback about performances on social media constantly
Why would he even want to stay?

If you have been an inconsistent part, of a very inconsistent team that’s been in the bottom half of League 2 for most of the season, I’d guess you are hardly going to be inundated with offers of contracts from League clubs.

Not EFL clubs but EPL clubs will be tripping over themselves to be first in the queue

Yh right the modern day footballer loves the big bucks that’s why there’s no real loyalty to a football club anymore. They will go to whoever pays them the most money the majority of the time it’s a short career as they say.

He’s already off to Burnley, providing they can stay in the PL. if they go down though, he will have to try other PL teams as his wage demands will prove too high for The Championship.

There’s definitely a footballer in Paddy. As other posters have said he’s very inconsistent, though my biggest problem with him is his decision making. He scares defenders to death when running at them full speed but his final ball lets him down time and time again. If our coaches can instill some discipline and work on his final ball distribution we would have quite an asset on our hands.
